We’d previously been put off by the busyness of the Beach Bar, but as our table next door wasn’t ready yet we popped in for a drink whilst we waited. We got a spot in the window with the best view ever. But it was freezing with the windows and both outside doors open. My drink was lovely and well presented but there the good points stop. The noise is so deafening it’s almost impossible to have a conversation. I don’t understand how bars don’t consider their space in relation to the volume. There’s no soft furnishings, no carpet, drapes or any sound proofing to soak up the noise. It’s busy so people are chatting and laughing. People who get louder as they compete with the music and each other. Now I appreciate we are older than the intended demographic. But we’re not dead yet. It wasn’t the music that was the issue, it was the volume. The Favourite Husband is slightly deaf (although that appears to be selective) and it was too loud for him. You’d have thought anything that drowned me out would have delighted him, but no.

We ordered Calamari and fried chicken, these were great and our cocktails were also great however the calamari was fried octopus, if you’re okay with that then it’s fine but I don’t think they know the difference as I can see other reviews with similar mentions! The views were amazing! The reasons for the 3 stars is myself and my friend had never been here before, there was no signage to say wait to be seated or that we just go on through. We waited for a little bit as they were slightly busy at the time of our arrival, but they didn’t greet us and continued to walk past us and we were ignored. I guess we weren’t sure on the style that they service, we found a table and quickly found out we had to go up and order ourselves. The bar tended was the best service out of the lot to be honest, he was kind and funny, even let us try the slushies in a small cup before deciding on flavours.
