Bella Vita — Restaurant in North Island

Firstly, the service was amazing. The ladies I talked with were lovely and we had a good chat with our server. The food was great and came out swiftly. It was well-presented, and my linguine gambero had HEAPS of prawns. My dessert, which was aBaileys-flavoured chocolate mousse was an absolute BANGER. I'm telling you, I could've eaten that until I was sick. The only thing that let us down was my partner's tiramisu. I'm not sure what had gone on there. I guess that someone had thought to spice up a classic? Tiramisu shouldn't be messed with. It's quintessentially Italian the way it is for a reason—because it's bloody amazing. Frangelico and pistachios have no business in it. Apart from that though, our experience at Bella Vita was awesome, and the ladies cemented our loyalty by ringing me up after we left and telling me that we'd been overcharged and that they'd cash out the difference to us the next day. I hadn't noticed when I paid, and that act of honesty properly blew me away. Cheers, guys....

I had the unfortunate luck to take a customer there for dinner last night and it was pretty poor. We ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and the steak with blue cheese.

Disappointed almost immediately, the Parmigiana was not what we expected at all. It was a boiled chicken breast with minimal tomato sauce and maybe a sliver of cheese. The side dishes were roast potatoes (burnt) and vegetables that looked as if they were done in the microwave. We left our meals half eaten.

we received no apology and certainly no reduction in the final cost. When leaving i expressed our unhappiness again and were told that the kitchen thought everything was cooked to perfection. In other words bugger you customer we thought it was fine.

We went for dinner and the waitress overheard us talking about me being gluten free, she approached me quietly and professionally to confirm and then she kindly told me what was ok for me to have along with how they can accommodate for my requirements. This really impressed me. I managed to have a beautiful delicious 2 course meal (because I was too full to eat a 3rd) completely gluten free. I left feeling thought about and welcome - not a weirdo. And my wonderful evening was less than $50. Quality, quantity and service all in one place! The restaurant is spacious and not jammed packed so you don't feel like you need to mind your P's & Q's. Completely recommended for a nice night out...
