I'm usually not one to write scathing reviews, but our recent visit to Chocolate Days Cafe in Eastbourne, Wellington, was an absolute disaster. The food was subpar, and the prices were steep. We ordered the Turkish Eggs and Eggs Benedict with Salmon. The Turkish Eggs were a travesty - imagine a Greek yogurt soup with a few bits of stale toast. It was a far cry from what we expected. The Eggs Benedict with Salmon was equally disappointing. We also ordered a side of creamy mushrooms, but unfortunately, they were dry and flavorless - not creamy at all. The hollandaise sauce was scarce, and the eggs were cooked incorrectly. To make matters worse, the iced coffee was clearly made with instant coffee and served with only two ice cubes. It was a lazy effort, especially considering the $68.85 price tag for our meal. Unless Chocolate Days Cafe seriously ups their game, I would strongly advise against visiting. There are far better cafes in the area that offer superior food and service at a lower price point. Skip this one and head to the next cafe on your list.

I recently visited Chocolate Days Cafe and was thoroughly impressed. The coffee scones were amazing - they were warm, fluffy, and had the perfect balance of sweetness. The carrot cake was also delicious - it was moist, flavorful, and had just the right amount of icing. In addition, the café has a great view of the city which makes it perfect for a sunny day. Overall, I highly recommend Chocolate Days Cafe for anyone in the area looking for a tasty treat and a beautiful view.

Stopped here to have breakfast on the way to Eastbourne. The place has changed hands since I was last here and the new owners have a more Mediterranean menu. I did not try anything fancy, but stuck with scrambled eggs on toast and a coffee. The eggs were perfectly scrambled and served on tasty sourdough toast. The flat white was a regular with great balance and smoothness and a good coffee hit in the tail. A great place to have breakfast and watch the world go by.

Was in the area and thought I'll give this much-lauded cafe a try. On the whole, it's not bad. But let me explain the 3-star only rating.

I ordered a salmon, spinach and cream cheese quiche and a coffee. Coffee was great 👍 Quiche looked really fancy in the cabinet. But unfortunately i think it was reheated in the microwave, because 3 minutes after ordering, it arrived piping hot at my table.

I'm okay with microwave heating and i understand it is logistically easier than oven heating, but this just left the quiche overcooked and the salmon quite tough.

With the same ingredient costing and just a bit more time, the cafe could be giving consumers a much better gastronomical experience.

So, a suggestion: ask if the customer is in a rush. If yes, then microwave. If not, give the customer the option of having their pastry/baking oven heated.

Also, the music seemed a bit out of place when i was there. The hyped/ soft techno did not seem to match the relaxed setting of the cafe.

Will be open to trying this cafe again...

Got the smashed avo. Had olives - wonderful- pitted olives mind you. I do not understand why you’d put something like this on a plate. One egg on one piece of toast with guacamole not fresh avo. It was pretty poor. No flavour. The best thing about this dish was the half cut cherry tomato’s. Very pricey. The coffee was nice and a good temperature. I should have learnt my lesson there but I didn’t . Got a few scones and a muffin to go for later. Scones were missing something. They were dense as, no flavour and not cooked through. The muffin was dry and even though it was berry and white chocolate, in my half it had no chocolate. Terrible experience. I will not be going...
