Japan Deli sushi — Restaurant in North Island

Not the best sushi place I've ever been to, sorry. Tried a bulgogi sushi today and couldn't even chew through the steak. Their customer service basically sucks and they lack etiquette. The owner was standing in front of me the whole time looking at the cabinet and blocking me from trying to choose sushi. Also their loyalty card rewards system is so whack and pointless. I literally got issued 2 different cards since they first opened by owner, another by staff because I had misplaced them in my different card holders so I don't always have the card on me. Brought them together today and inquired if it could be used to get $5 off, as collectively I would have spent more than enough to only just NOW be able to eventually get to use 2 of the discounts, but of course not together. He did acknowledge and give me the one $5 off, which is like okay-but sheeesh it literally took forever to get it..He then confiscated the rest of my loyalty cards with 5 stamps on them, and only added 2 stamps on the 1 loyalty card he used. So I lost 5 stamps. He began talking about how some people do dodgy stuff, but why impose that on me in front of other customers though? So he doesn't even remember that he himself initially told me I can always start a new card and put them together later. Smh. I literally used to spend a lot here, but because of problems on several occasions with the loyalty cards it's actually put me off that they do rip me off intentionally. Mind you, this is after some time buying sushi there repetitively since it first opened that I got one $5 discount.. Unfortunately on a separate occasion, I also had the experience of being cheated by a former employee here who would refuse to stamp my loyalty card the correct amount of 12 stamps for every $10 I spent when I bought $129.00 worth of sushi here for my family. She blatantly refused to give the $5 off and put only 3 stamps. What is even the point of offering the loyalty cards then? It's a scam when it's literally my money I spent to earn every stamp, so why are you not dealing and conducting your business...

Delicious flavoursome food. Came here during the latter part of lunchtime and there was a long line getting food and waiting to be served.

Staff were excellent as the line grew shorter and I purchased my meal and had it brought to me as I ordered Donburi as my main and had some sushi on the side while I waited.

Japan Deli Sushi has great array of different sushi options and sashimi. They even sold moochi, the delicious sweet in little individual packets whichever I had never seen in a Japanese cafe here in New Zealand before.

Food was very good and the fish was very soft and tender.

We dined in and managed to score us a table and not long after we sat down my sister and I received our Donburi and the line became non existent and the lunchtime rush was over.

Would definitely recommend this place for its lovely food and customer service....

We love the sushi here and dine regularly. The food is always fresh with a wide variety to choose from. The restaurant itself has a lovely light feel to it, and is always well presented and clean when we go in. My daughter recently had a birthday and wanted some of her favourite food, being sushi, so we were delighted when we were able to order a platter to take away. It was beautifully presented and once out to serve, it had all disappeared within minutes, it was that good. Thankyou Japan Deli for your excellent service and food, it is much appreciated. Happy...
