It was ok, not fantastic

Service was good, even though we had a trainee, she was attentive and remembered a repeat drink order first time!

Bread was average, but like what I remember a year or so ago when I was there last time. Bread was pre buttered this time, last time it was on a side board. I liked it much better last time

Ordered multiple steaks amongst our group. 250g steak had a bit of fat but was fairly stringy, didn't seem like a premium cut

The 300g steak was similar, not as stringy though and less fat. I would rate the steak as average quality. I expected better for the price of $39.95

Beer was $9, served in a glass which seemed a little smaller than typical servings in Australia

Chips did but seen overly fresh, chunky style but there was not many, perhaps about 12 in total

Coleslaw was nice and plenty of it

Chucky mushroom sauce was tasty, full flavored but I counted about 3 mushroom chunks in total

Spent a fraction short of $200 for 4 adults, which included 2 beers and 4 soft drinks. I consider this quite expensive for what was a nice break but nothing really outstanding

The best part of the meal was the apprentice girl who remembered my repeat beer order first go and who was polite and engaging

Over the years when I've visited I have noticed a reduction of value and a slight reduction of quality, this visit was the same. I think next time I will give another...

We were here over the weekend for an event at the stadium and we decided to go out for dinner. I'm a big fan of Lone Star and my favourite Lone Star Restaurant is in Rotorua. We walked in it was absolutely full, we hesitated at first because we knew there may be a wait. Asked for a table for 3 and the hostess seated us straight away. They seated us away from everyone else which was a plus. Our waitress Chloe (hope I spelt your name correctly) amazing service all the way through and very efficient. Service was quick for a busy Saturday night. Service was quick. Food absolutely tasty, hot and mine and hubby's steak grilled perfectly. First time in 2 years I've had dinner out where my steak was cooked exactly how I wanted it. Best milky bar pudding I've had at lonestar and my son absolutely loved the salted caramel ice-cream. We'll definitely be back here next time we come through. Keep up the great work I may have to change my mind about Rotorua Lone Star. โ˜บ๏ธ Thank you...

My wife and I visited the restaurant not long ago,

We would highly recommend the Prawn Star dish. The flavours are perfect. Very delicious. 5/5

The Rockinโ€™ Ribeye that I ordered (medium) was dry... hard and chewy. I ordered garlic butter steak thinking that the steak would be cooked in said garlic butter. However, to my surprise the dish is delivered to you - The steak, and sitting there next it is a big plonk of garlic butter. (Like the same plonk they give you to butter your bread if you ask for it). The meat was average at best. Big chunk of hard dry steak is never good. Unsatisfactory. The coleslaw isnโ€™t much better either. Best part of the dish were the chips. Not a good dish. would not recommend buying this dish. 1/5.

Overall 3/5 Ambience is welcoming Price: medium/high Weight for food: Long (The place was not over capacity or crowded at the time...

Absolutely FANTASTIC as usual.. warm hearted staff, warm hearty fire and fabulous food!!! We enjoyed the nachos and ribs and burgers and honkey tonk chicken cooked to perfection as usual. Thanks one and all! :) xxx Again enjoyed the best most reliable meal.. cannot agree with lower scores who say its outdated this place is classic which never goes out of style and the coleslaw is a highlight for me.. we went this time for our anniversary and keep coming back year after year, and multiple branches, 4 in total around the country.. Christchurch before the quake.. Tauranga, Taupo and Hamilton.. for private functions or dates, we know we can trust the staff to deliver a superb meal and atmosphere thats a lil special n reminiscent n rustic.. We LOVE IT!

Came here for a birthday dinner, been to lone star a few times in the past, I had the hob, we had steak and three kids meals. Average I would say, they always put too much coleslaw in the plate, which takes up a third of the plate. There was a lot of fat in the steak and was quite tough. The pork was okay. Itโ€™s very expensive for what it is, and think you can get a much better quality meal elsewhere. Lone star is quite dated now, like most โ€˜themedโ€™ restaurants.

I think it's a good place but as I'm a vegetarian for me, I didn't find too many options so I'll give my honest opinion on what I heard from my friends who usually done there and who came with me. They loved their food and found the portion to be quite generous. The wait time was slightly long but we didn't mind as we were all talking. They have a good drink menu too and the ambience is pretty alright. I loved how big my burger was.
