Parcels Restaurant — Restaurant in Otago

We went to Parcels Restaurant at the Distinction Hotel as only stay 2 mins walk from our hotel where we had 2 dinners already and look for something difference in our wedding anniversary trip in New Zealand. We didn’t have the booking however the restaurant able to accommodate us. Met the bartender who attentive and showed us the table, gave us menus and water then he said a waiter/waitress will be telling us specials and take orders. We were excited about dinner as we saw something we were really like however, 15 mins on we have no not yet order but two groups who came after us have. There is one waitress carrying on conversation with the guests two table behind us for the last 10mins, my partner was trying to get her attention but once she finished she went to meet and took order for a group who came after us (again). I was also have trying to get eyes contact to waitress however again no luck. We have waited long enough to be ignored, I finally went to the bar told the bartender about 3 groups behind us have ordered and we still haven’t met anyone since you seated us. I cannot help but wonder the reasons are but couldn’t help but thinking because we are two men having dinner, they can’t miss us as we are sitting in the middle of restaurant. Food was good. Super fresh and well priced. Partner ordered fish of the day which looked divine. We visited on a Tuesday so it was pretty quiet. Did take a minute to seat us to our table as short staffed, easily excused. We had a table for 2 booked.. couldn’t see any one specifically reserved for us.. not sure if this restaurant does that? But we were seated at a 2 pax table.. nothing wrong with it but we were just across from a big group whom it seemed very evidently were having a business meeting. No other complaints but somewhere else would’ve been preferred (it seemed like there were plenty of other tables free) or perhaps wish they had some soft music. My partner and I are very used to chatter but it’s very hard to enjoy dinner when you can only hear talk about growth, graphs, advertising etc.. these are the only reasons...

My Wife organised a High Tea for her family while we were down visiting from the North Island. We were all so impressed with the level of service and the food. We were made welcome and treated so incredibly well. It was such a special occasion for her family. We had a baby in attendance and he was treated like a Prince. Can you please thank Maya (we think that was her name). Maya was amazing and my Wife and I can't thank her enough for making the family get together such a fantastic experience.
