Went to Spelt Bakery on two occasions. The first time they said they had no pies left and told to come back another day, disappointing. Second time I went earlier. First thing I noticed was you can't even see the pies in the warmer as it's too far away and behind the counter so you can't see if they're burned or what condition they're in. I got a steak and cheese, a sausage roll and a steak pie. Pastry was not bad and had some good crisp. The insides of both pies had so many carrots in them I almost thought I had ordered a carrot and gravy pie. Few pieces of meat, not a lot. Pie was almost inedible with the amount of carrots in there that ruin the flavour. Sausage roll meat tasted awful and looked like dog meat, couldn't finish it. Again pastry was not bad so picked it off and chucked the meat. Very disappointing for a $9.80 each pie. Not sure what the hype is, BP petrol station pies are nicer and half the price.

Such a small place you would never expect so many beautiful tasty treats when you get inside ! I got the millers sourdough and kumara and capsicum soup to take home. Was amazing and cant wait to go back and try more of their amazing selection in the future !

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, WILL NOT COME BACK. I was there on the last day they opened before Christmas break. I have tried to preorder for that day, but I was told it's not possible. I had ordered 10 breads from the lady with the short black curly hair and the glasses. As I was trying to rearrange the bread on the counter for her, where she put it, she slammed with another bread on my hand and said "Don't take the bread yet". When I went on to pay I realized straight after that I should get 1 bread for free, as they have this loyalty programme. I asked her about it and she said "Sorry". Ok, understandable that it's too late. But then she could have given me another one, but I had already reached the max number of bread I could buy. Instead she stamped my card and when I mentioned that the stamps where not enough, she said "Just take it and go". I was shocked by this customer service. But I think this bakery does not really care about customer service in general. They have no phone# or email address. I also noticed on earlier occasions that this particular lady, pushes in front of her colleagues, when it comes to entering the orders in their only check out desk. I will not come back ever. I used to buy quite regularly, but I ll find another bakery. EDIT: I found side-on in town. Great customer service & delicious...

Fancy bakery that serves great coffee, but the food has taken a slide in the new year. This used to be our go-to spot for pies and bread, but the last few times the food was bad. First, we picked up steak and vegetarian pies. Both were thrown away - the veggie had a ridiculous amount of pepper and was completely inedible, while my steak was marginally better, but I could only get through part of it. The next visit I picked up a Turkish pide loaf, and a beef mince pie. The loaf was doughy and underbaked, and nothing like previous loaves, while the pie was lukewarm/cold, and tasted off & unappetizing. Shame, Spelt was a real gem, but we stopped going after these experiences. I left this feedback online through their web contact form, but...
