Wonderful cafe with friendly service and a diverse menu. I love the vegetarian breakfast, with Halloumi cheese, mushrooms, eggs, sourdough bread and more. There is a gas fireplace in the main dining room, and two different outdoor areas (with blankets for when it is cold).
I've eaten here several times in the past two weeks (Aug. 2023), and I found the service and atmosphere so enticing that I keep coming back for more. The scrambled eggs I had twice were perfectly cooked and delicious.
There are two different restrooms (upstairs and off the back patio, downstairs). Sometimes parking can be a bit of a crunch. I've parked on residential streets in the past and took the short walk to the cafe.
This is one of the many delicious "Littles" I have found in Auckland (including Little Jimmy on Manukau Road, and Little Bird Kitchen and Little & Friday (bakery) in Ponsonby neighborhood). Highly recommend this spot.
Note: Only open for breakfast and lunch on most days, and may have adjusted hours for "Winter trading." - Check...
Read moreThis was a brunch catch-up with work colleagues. We reserved a table for 6 people and as soon as we arrived everything was good we ordered coffee and our meals, and within 5mins the coffees came. Lovely coffee but then we waited and waited and waited...after 45mins we enquired about where our meals were we were told our order had been lost and we had to order again. The women/supervisor who came over was very unapologetic considering this is relatively small cafe and we were in full view of where u get served, It goes beyond belief how a party of 6 people in a not busy cafe in full view can get so neglected. You took our orders on a piece of paper and didnt even follow up or find it odd when were sat there for 45min with no food. The icing on the cake is when u said we dont need to pay for our coffee but didnt communicate that to the front cashier who then proceeded to question us on why we should get free coffee. I was so dissapointed with my experience i had better customer service at McDonalds drive...
Read moreConsidering these guys are the previous owners of Frolic, they've got a lot more to learn to get back up to speed of running a cafe. Coffees weren't hot, or strong. I had to go up to the counter to ask if we can order (after waiting for ages), there were only two other tables. Finally our food came out, aside from my toddlers breakfast. I had to approach the front of house twice asking where it was. Some excuse given that it wasn't printed on the docket, I suggested they had simply forgotten. Kids meal finally came out and the rest of us had nearly finished. Poor acknowledgement from staff, no apology. Food is rather bland, and considering the prices they charge you would expect so much more/better. Soap dispenser in bathroom was sitting in the sink. Staff should learn what customer service is, even try a smile, it won't hurt them. Wouldn't go back unless something...
