The food was good/average. The menu had a nice selection. The cabinet was filled with nice looking stuff. We ordered the pancake tower, the big oak breakfast, an coffee frappe and a tropical smoothie. The Big Oak Breakfast was a little of a let down. The sausages weren't very grilled, the bread was too thick which was too soft and not very toasted, the parsley topping that was on top was so concentrated on the placement that its all that you could taste. There wasn't anything sauce wise, and no baked beans- so it made the meal feel quite dry. The rest of the food on this big breakfast was okay, but it is a little pilled up on top of each other- it would be nice to have it more spread out. The pancake tower was a little different than you might expect. The tower was of two thick pancakes. the presentation made me think of a souffle pancake- but its actually more cakey, and slightly on the dryer side. The compote and mascarpone were lovely. The seasonal fruits were a good selection. While it tasted good overall the texture of the pancake might not be for everyone- personally I liked it. The coffee frappe was good, with a nice strong coffee taste. The tropical smoothie was very refreshing with a nice zing from the pineapple. Overall it was average for price, the meal was filling, and the staff were nice. The only thing I might add is the tables are VERY sticky! Please take some time maybe before or after hours to thoroughly clean the table tops- it adds to a better experience

The cafe is located on the mezzanine floor of the Royal Oak shopping mall. You can take the elevator to the right floor or just head into the mall and look for the stairs and escalators up. It is close to the main entrance. The staff are quite friendly and there is quite a large and open dining area, which seems very spacious. They also have a playground at the end. The menu is quite interesting, a combination of standard cafe food with some Asian flavours mixed in. I had the bulgogi burger with an iced chocolate. The ice chocolate had a nice chocolate flavour. The burger was also tasty. I quite liked the flavours with the sweet patty and slightly vinegary and spicy kimchi underneath. The bun did fall apart near the end though. The hot drinks had interesting designs in the foam. We were sitting on the side and there was a planter there. It was nice they were growing thing but it did mean there were insects on the table for most of the meal. I quite liked the cafe with tasty food and friendly servers.

We hold our business strategy meetings at Oak Eatery, Royal Oak because it's a central meeting location. Wendy was able to suggest some healthy food options from their menu and she recommended we try their tropical and berry smoothies. The smoothies were delicious and refreshing 😋 I'll come back and order the smoothies again. I tried the Morrocan chicken on eggs benedict; it was nice, but I might try something else next time, perhaps the smashed avocado on toast. And my friend had the smoked salmon hash benedict and she enjoyed it. It's a great spot because it's central, convenient, open plan and spacious so it's great for work meetings during breakfast/brunch/lunch and there's a private meeting room that is free to use. Thank you, Ken and Wendy for your help, the meeting space and hospitable 🫶😀

I went to one tree hill for the cherry blossom scenery. It was fabulous. I took both my parents and my kid with me. I have a zomato membership card so I checked whether there is a member restaurant in the surrounding area. I chose Oak eatery but it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

The unprofessional staff ruined my appetite. After I seated my parents and my kids - one of them is only 2 months old and stay in a infant capsule, i went to order for them. We have 3 adults so I want to order 3 dishes plus one kid meal. I ordered four dish all together... The first one kiwi breakfast, second seafood bisque, third kid meal fish and chips and fourth avocado on toast... This is the sequence. I show her the code and paid the bill.

Later on the table , I started to realize the meal only cost me a littlle big more than 30 dollars. She must have missed one dish. So I went back and asked her how many dishes did she took, she said 3. I asked which 3. Then I realized that she missed the sea food bisque. Because she interrupted me and asked whether I like poached eggs or scrambled. I told her poached... i guess that how she missed one. But I am 100% sure I told her all four dishes' names.

I told her I wanted to order 4 dish altogether. There is one more seafood bisque. She said she can add it for me. I told her but I should have one on one deal on the seafood bidque. Because both kiwi breakfast and seafood bisque costs 24 dollars. The avocado one costs 17 dollars. This means I have to pay 7 dollars more than I should have.

She told me she could not cancel the order. I started to feel uncomfortable. I tell her I can pay 24 dolalrs more but can she give me 1 free coffee to make it up. She told me I did not order 4 dishes. I just "wanted" to order 4 dishes. SHe can not give me a free coffee....I double checked with me and I said yes. I was shocked how she can say this...She did not double check with me. If she told me you have ordered 3 dishes which are a b c. This would not happen at all. She only asked whether I like the receipt. I said no!

I told her you missed the dish I ordered! I said it and you did not hear it. ANd you did not double check at all! Then I left in a unhappy mood. I really want to get refund and leave.

THis is ridiculous. You can check the CCTV to see whether you missed hearing it or I missed saying it. And have you really double checked with me? Are you 100 % sure you have?

If I were you, I would not say 'you 'wanted' to order 4 but you did not ." Can you be sure in the past of your life you have not made one single mistake? How can you be so sure that you did not make one today at noon at your work place? Even if you are 200% sure you did not make any mistake (which you did!) can you express yourself in a less rude way? I do not want a free coffee, I wanted to be treated fairly! And I do not want to pay for other people's mistake.

I will understand you and pay for an extra meal if you made an appropriate conversation with me and tried to solve the issue at least. What you did is very stupid. You did not try to solve the issue, not even try to understand what happened. You simply refuse to even think there is a possibility that you made an mistake and try to accuse your customer.

You should not have been trained in this way.

Plus, avocado on toast is not delicious. Avocado is not fresh. They added salt and lemon juice in it so it is both salty and sour.

I have already left my review on zomato, now I am leaving...

Some of my fondest memories of food in Auckland include dining at Kazuya, Cassia, and the Royal Oak Eatery. How, you ask, does a simple cafe compete against the titans of fine cuisine? Simple. Its passion. Passion about food, passion about service, passion about making a statement.

Many cafes focus on creating their culinary mark and miss the target by a long shot. Overused, cliched ingredients like mesclun salad and spinach are splashed carelessly over dishes to add "spruce" and "pizazz" but end up being nothing but boring and bland garnishes. Thankfully, the Royal Oak Eatery is anything but uninspired.

Seasonal dishes provide great diversity for regular customers, and the staff's constant drive for improvement means that no dish is ever stale.

A beautiful blend of intense Korean seasoning and spices, and classic European meals create a fusion that leaves nothing more to be desired. Every time I eat here, I'm treated to a meal that's only superior to the one I've had before.

I implore everyone to try this wonderful cafe - you won't regret it. (My personal favourite dish is the...
