If you are planning to go to Dunedin, New Zealand and you have something that you are not able to eat because of your religions, creeds or another reason, I recommend the best Mexican restaurant Del Sol. I always chose this restaurant when I went out with my international friends for dinner. Del Sol is located near the Octagon which is middle of Dunedin and it is accessible by buses. You can have fun with delicious Mexican food such as burritos and nachos. The meals were a little bit big for me, so if you don't eat much, you can share with friends or families. If you are over 18 years old, there is a fancy bar where various Mexican cocktails is available at the middle of the restaurant . I haven’t tried them before because I was junior to 18 when I went there, but my teachers always recommended people the cocktails. The prices are affordable. If you have $20, you can have enough food. This restaurant has many kinds of food. For instance, vegetarian food which means no meat, fish or eggs but only vegetable in it is available for all dishes. I have been to Del Sol with my Indian friend who can’t eat pork because she was a Hinduism and German friends who was a vegetarian, so she didn’t eat meat, fish and eggs. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and comfortable. The lamp is warm and dim, and music is also harmonized with the atmosphere. The restaurant is casual so you don't need to be fashionable when you go there. And also there is another item that I enjoy. There are some Mexican costumes that you can try on. For instance, Mexican hat, roses and mustaches. You would make a rare experience of Mexican culture. You can take photos with your friend or family. If you are a good model, the staffs may post the beautiful picture on their FaceBook. But, there is one bad point which is that they open the restaurant at 5:30pm. You can’t go there at lunch time. And that’s too late for high school students because they finished schools around 3:00pm. But if you are hungry, you can eat great Mexican food as much as possible!! Del Sol is at perfect location, has great Mexican food and you can have fun, so there is no reason why you don’t go there. Have a wonderful...
Read moreCame for a friend's birthday dinner and the waitress today was so much more lovely. The atmosphere was really nice and chill, and really enjoyed it. Wanted to get ribs but saw a pic and wasn't super excited for them so went with something new! Ordered the pork belly tacos and baja steak taco for $4 taco night! Had a sip of the passionfruit mocktail and it was average, slight zing mixed with a mint but not something I'd reach for again. The server was not very pleasant and my plate had mayo on the bottom, not really pleased. Pork belly tacos were tasty and the pork pretty tender and not dry. Could have had a bit more flavour explosion though when compared with the steak) but not bad! The beans were smoky on their own, but when paired with the fatty pork it worked really well. Baja steak tacos were fantastic! The Siracusa and tender beef was an exquisite flavour, and super flavorful. Would recommend! Initially I thought the tacos were quite small as a main but it did me well and I was satisfied. Jalapeño and cheese poppers were a delight, crisp and crunchy outside with a cheesy centre. The cheese wasn't super stretchy but more creamy which I appreciated. The flavor was more creamy than salty which makes it taste great in its own, but I couldn't taste the jalapeño, Crispy chicken wings; honesty drawn to this because I love anything with the word crisp. They were tender and lived up to their name; crispy, but nothing super special. I would still prefer kfc wicked wings over these! Not awful or anything like that though, just not special. Overall the experience was better, still not stoked with their customer service but definitely more open to...
Read moreBooked for a large group, with arrangements made and sorted well in advance, came into the place with tables unprepared, staff were confused and had almost no knowledge of the bookings, and the booking started at 7pm, but food that had been pre-ordered were not sent out fully until 7:48pm, which is terrible, but not only that, I had explicitly told the staff about ordering a large amount of margaritas, but none were prepared, and they were delivered poorly, with one of the servers spilling a jug of margarita on one of the guests. The food itself was bland and overpriced, with margaritas being $17 consisting mainly of ice. Pretty terrible experience but I am glad I came in with a good group of friends. Will never dine here again. The excuse they had was that they were understaffed and "did not expect as much people to come in through the restaurant" but I don't think those excuses make sense especially with a booking that has been made and agreed upon well in advance. If they were in such a horrible state staff-wise, then maybe think about not agreeing on booking large groups in the first place. Terrible experience, no compensation offered or even hinted upon either which reflects terribly on the establishment, and on the quality of "service" they claim to give in the...
