Escape Artists Dunedin — Local services in South Island

Mixed feelings about our visit here. We enjoyed our room, Dark Wizard, although some of the puzzles were very linear and easy to solve. The atmosphere of the room is quite good though some of the props are well-worn and coming unglued.

The main problem, however, was the gentleman with glasses guiding our experience. He ruined our adventure because he wouldn't stop talking over the intercom! Over and over he kept interrupting our search to give us unwanted clues. It was super annoying and _really detracted from the experience. We have done other escape rooms in the past and always managed to solve without needing any clues, but this guy made it impossible. To be clear, he offered unsolicited clues over the intercom without our asking for any. It was extremely aggravating. Weeks later and we are still grumpy about it whenever it comes up or we discuss going to another escape room. In hindsight we should have used our walkie talkie to tell him to stop talking but we were too insecure in the moment. We didn't want ANY...

We made the Room 238 and it was a lot of fun, great riddles and very nice gadgets. Unfortunately, a door right before the final room that wasn't suppose to lock locked and we couldn't finish the room (don't worry the door is not there anymore ;) We talked to the owners and they gave us another room for free the next day.

It was mysterious cabin. Also the second room we enjoyed and it was challenging because you have to solve a lot of different puzzles and riddles to get out.

We did the mysterious cabin and it was fun and a great value. The room had a lot of puzzles, not super fancy or technical but challenging and interesting and lengthy in a good way. Prices are very good ($22 pp) and best of all was Sam the staff member. He was very excited and engaged when we escaped, talking about our run and where we were fast, slow etc. Great to see someone passionate about the game running the venue (have seen very unenthusiastic staff at other rooms in the past)....
