Thai Hanoi — Restaurant in South Island

4th October 2018 - I was having a dinner at this eatery after a long [work] day. This is the second time I dine in at this place, the first time was two ✌ years ago. It is a typical franchised Thai 🇹🇭 and Vietnam 🇻🇳 fusion eatery.

The food that they serve is simple and tasty 😋. I wouldn't say it is the authentic Thai and Vietnam cuisine as the taste has been [heavily] tailored for the locals. I tend to find the spiciness to their fried rice and Vietnam seafood dishes were mild. I believe that it is a standard (watered down version) taste 🍜🍛🍲 but you can always ask to increase the spiciness 😰.

The Vietnam seafood tasted good and the broth was slightly on the sweeter side (maybe too much coconut milk? 🤔). Don't get me wrong, it was still tasted good and it goes well with rice and beer. Just not to my liking but perhaps you might find it differently. Good portion size.

This is a licensed eatery and you can order alcoholic drinks 🍾🍷🍸🍹🍺🍻. There is no outdoor area.

Would I go back? Maybe 😏 Would I recommend? Maybe 🤔.

Food: ⭐⭐⭐ Can't go wrong with Thai and Vietnamese dishes. Tasty but not spectacular 😋. Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Simple setting. They tend to use a lot of different orange colours on their interior walls. 🤔 Price: ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Average pricing for this eateries.

August 2016 - Food tastes ok, a typical...

I was one of a large group booked in at 6.30pm Saturday evening March 19. We were made welcome but unfortunately service went downhill from there. After about 40 minutes waiting for our waiter to take our order , one of our group decided to approach the reception desk to say we have been waiting to place our orders for a while. It was then we saw our waiter again who finally took our orders. We were all feeling hungry by then. We noticed that the kitchen was very busy but not for customers inside the restaurant. Takeaway after takeaway was prioritised. We finally received our meals in dribs and drabs and I got mine at 7.50 pm! The food was good but everything else was definitely not! I mentioned that when I paid for my meal. All in our group felt the same and for that reason I won’t be going...

The food was amazing!! Huge portion sizes apart from the spring rolls were 7.50 for four and they were smaller than my little finger.. the reason I have give this place 3 stars is because the staff/young lady that works there was ridiculously rude to us. Baring in mind I only 25 and I have done waitressing before she was disgustingly rude and we nearly walked out. I even told her I didnt like the way she spoke to us and she apologised and someone else came and served us. Very poorly ran place but the food is delicious. I had bad vibes that something would have been done to my food as when we left she was stood behind the bar...
