Usually find a great place but recently was there when customer returned a slice saying it tasted awful like a chemical flavour and they had to suggest several times for them to remove tray of similar slices. They seemed to do so reluctantly as complaining customer left.
The customer was not offered a refund. If I owned the shop I would have freely given a full refund and the option of choosing some other slice free of charge. Reputation is everything and the customer is always right! Watching and overhearing this has put us off ever going back.
Yet it was a place we used to like very much. I query if ownership has changed since we were last there? Suspect the chemical taste could be from over spray when cleaning the cabinet glass. Care needs to be taken to remove food when cleaning finger prints off the glass or plastic fronts of cabinets.
A much better response and sense of concern required. They should have removed the tray of similar slices immediately and shown greater concern and care to the customer. Will never know if customer was right but they took the trouble to come back with the product and express their concern that seemed genuine. The response seemed half hearted and one of shrugging it off. Not good enough...
