Drove over to Greymouth to visit a friend and came here for dinner. We were served by a young girl, messy hair and dirty shirt so that was strange in itself! Didn’t know anything about the beers that my friend was asking about so went away then came back to answer us. We ordered drinks then waited for another few minutes then someone else took our order. She looked even younger but she was tidy and groomed. Took our order and we waited for about forty five minutes. By that time I had truly finished my drink but noone came over to ask if we needed another one. Two meals arrived after 45 minutes but my friend’s dinner was about ten minutes after that. We all ordered ribeye at $47.00 a plate! Phew expensive - all our steaks were cooked perfectly until we got to the middle of the steaks and it was raw (my friend and I ordered medium to well done) so neither of us finished ours. My mushroom sauce literally had no taste to it. I genuinely could’ve cooked a better mushroom sauce!! The garlic butter on my friend’s steak was good though! Not once during the meal did anyone come and ask us if we required more drinks or ask us how the meal was. I felt the servers were so young, they didn’t really know what they were doing. All in all - the meals were ok - not excellent but ok. I did find $47.00 for a ribeye quite expensive. Will not go back....

Was meet by our server chewing gum. Waited at least 20 minutes just for drinks. At least a hour for food, that was cold and dry. The steak was fatty. My daughter asked for medium raw , what she got was a fatty, cold over cooked and medium raw in parts of her steak. They did refund this. They may have a kids menu, but unlike the speights ale house in Chch they don't have anything for kids to do. On booking they said just to tell about dietary requirements as one of my daughters is diary intolerant. Except for a salad and chips they couldn't cater for her.The owner told us they couldn't quality check their steak. My eldest said she would of rather gone to burger king on a bad day, and she dislikes burger king. On a positive note their deserts were fantastic. That's only a small portion of my family's complaints. Eating out is a real big treat for my family. This was meant to be extra big treat, as this was the first time we had got away in years with our kids out of Christchurch...

Booked for 6.15 ordered by 6.30 ...1 ribs, 1 bangers and mash, 1chicken burger and a kids burger finally arrived at our table at 8.07. the very young waiter hadn’t put our order thru...luckily we went to ask him to check how our meals were coming along. Another staff member came to apologise and offered us a discounted meal if we were still happy to wait and my partner was offered a drink on the house. This was a nice gesture. Three out of the four of us enjoyed the meal, the chicken burger was dry and chicken tasted bland. We did have to go to counter to get more water kids had to find tomatoe sauce and later follow up on their sundays (which took another half an hr for two tiny scoops of ice cream and a few sprinkles) we weren’t asked how our meals were and no one said a word about it when we went to pay, nor did they acknowledge the twins birthday which I had mentioned when booking and enquired what meals were available for kids. Not in any hurry to...

A great spot to find across from the Greymouth train station while waiting for the TransAlpine train and enjoying a pint or two. The prices are on the higher side for pub food. - The seafood chowder was disappointing and not recommended. Despite the regions strong dairy industry and close proximity to the sea, the chowder was overly thickened with starch and contained an excess amount of carrots. Additionally the heavy use of black pepper may not also to everyone's taste. - On the other hand, the mushroom risotto was flavorful and cheesy - The onion rings were nicely fried, but the seasoning was a bit heavy-handed. Overall, it's a cosy pub with friendly staff and a convenient location across from the railway station.

Some good and some less good. We started with the pesto garlic sweet chili bread and it was great. Sweet chili was an odd flavor but my companions liked it. I had the triple cheeseburger which was very good. Like the rest of nz your burger comes well done and if you don’t like it you can go pound sand. Good burger though. Chicken burger was delicious. Ham and cheese with pineapple was an abomination. The barbecue sauce is detrimental to the flavor and not listed on the menu. Sandwich could be otherwise solid. Fries came out so hot i thought they were cooked on the surface of the sun but were high quality. Would eat here again
