Subway — Restaurant in West Coast

I would not recommend this place as it is today. We went in for late breakfast at 11.05 am and asked if we could have a breakfast sub and was told yes. Then a couple minutes late was told oh no it's past 11am so no you can't. We said why not and was told the ingredients will be thrown out after 11am. We pointed out that all the ingredients for the breakfast sub are in the cabinet and will be used to make a non breakfast sub still no breakfast sub available???? So we ordered what we were allowed, it was not too bad, not great but ok. The worst thing was the cleanliness, we're very tempted to report the place to the authorities or the subway head office at least. On our side of the counter, except the floor and the tops of the tables, Nothing looked like it had been cleaned in weeks. My low review here resonates with other customers here. Absolutely disgusting server, rude, impatient, throwing things around, grumpy young lad, complaining to us non-stop that he was made to work long shifts, which is NO FAULT of ours but he threw his tantrums on us! WTH! We visited from Melbourne, Australia, our second day travelling from CHC on the Tranzalpine Train. Every Kiwi we met have been wonderful, this young lad completely destroyed this positive impression, a disgrace to tourists to NZ. Will not recommend this Subway. The Manager should have a firm talk with this chap. When he whined so much, I told him, "Be happy at least you have a Job!" Havent tried the subway but I bet it is equally unsavoury as this server's temper! How could any food taste good when its made with so much contempt!!! #mindourlanguagetravelgroup...

Sadly in the last few months service and quality has hit a low (as can be seen from other reviews) staff have no customer service skills, unfriendly, preoccupied with each other, lack the basic skills of even greeting a customer and asking what they would like. Food quality of salads has dropped to brown yucky lettuce and salad items mixed into each other, the person next to me ordered something they ran out of the item and proceeded to lift out the container and get what had fallen out underneath to fill the order, God knows how long it had been under there or what was in it. Haven't been back and won't risk my health until I hear it's improved. Owners need to take a good look at the management and day to day running if they want to keep customers.
