Went for a quick weekday lunch here a couple of weeks ago, for first time, between appointments. Have seen it so busy at weekends. The burger was great, and service by owners great. Sadly, my experience went downhill from there as another patron approached, and started talking to the lady at the counter. A man in his late 50s, leather jacket, on a motorbike, talking casually and in detail in a shockingly racist manner I've rarely heard - about asians taking over, indians owning dairies, sri lankans, pacific islanders and maori...it was disgusting. The rant went on for 10 minutes, while I finished my burger (despite my appetite being ruined). I understand a need for good customer service on the owner's part, but this was a racist, even carrying on in front of a maori/pacific island gentleman who came to the store! Was disappointed that the owners condoned this behaviour in this day and age - request you don't welcome customers like this - we don't need this in...
Read moreIt’s our first time to visit tha Mapua wharf and was thrilled to find a real fruit ice cream place. We were there at about 10 to 10 in the morning and stood outside the window waiting to be served. A lady eventually came to the room so we very politely said ‘hi, excuse me’ but she didn’t even let me finish what I was saying, brushed me off and shouted 10 am and walked away. Firstly there was no obvious sign showing open times and the window was open as if ready for business. We have no problem waiting at all but we were very disappointed at the way she just brushed us off and to be quite honest, it was a bit rude. She obviously did not want our business so we left. If she didn’t know this, a little kindness actually goes a long way. We wish your business well and hope that lady is kinder to future customers especially when international...
Read moreCalled in this mōrena for some kai and kāwhe. Had been waiting to visit for a couple of days, and I wasn't disappointed.
The service was excellent. I couldn't have gotten a more friendly welcoming. As I waited for my kai, kāwhe and smoothie, a number of 'locals' I assume dropped in for their regular kāwhe and cheese scone and were warmly greeted by their first name. Reminded me of the TV series, Cheers :).
My kāwhe, kai, and smoothie were excellent, delicious, scrumptious, and just hit the right spot.
Can't wait to go back and try more menu options, cabinet kai, and those awesome...
