A last minute decision to have a lazy Sunday morning breakfast left us spoilt for choice. Do we go north or south? Let's go north! So onto First Table to find somewhere which led us to Cafe Botannix in Albany. It was a really chilly 4 degrees outside when we set off and not much warmer when we arrived. Anyway, we scan the menu and my husband has his usual eggs Benedict and me? Well, if corn fritters are on the menu, I'm in! we find a table next to the fireplace although being a covered outdoor area, we weren't feeling the heat. Our drinks arrived quickly, a flat white for hubby and an English breakfast tea for me which was lukewarm. I really needed a HOT drink given the chilly temperature. Then our meals. They were tasty enough, I just was hoping for nice plump fritters. Mine looked more like sweetcorn crepes, but as I said, they were tasty with a nice smeer of sour cream on the side, a poached and a generous amount of smashed avo. I just think it would be great if the plates and especially tea pot could be hested prior to serving when the weather is cold. Not a bad brekkie, but it wasn't worth the drive...
Read moreVery disappointed with our experience this morning. The cafe hasn't been the same since the management changed. We have given it a good go but won't be returning. The lady who takes the orders is very unfriendly, just gets the job done ,and onto the next. This morning she was not listening. My coffee order was mixed up and my husband's breakfast never arrived. When he enquired, she said we hadn't paid enough. She took the order, we discussed egg options ,paid the bill & waited. There was no apology about the mix up, just we had to repay if we wanted it. We didn't reorder ,we left with a bad taste in our mouth. Cafe Botannix if you don't treat your loyal customers appropriately they will vote...
Read moreThe food was okay. Presented okay, too. There's nothing to see here, folks, but I guess it would depend on what you ordered. My dish, however, wasn't worth talking about, but it was definitely worth complaining about. Visually, it looked okay, tasted blah. The red sauce (beetroot) tasted like tomato sauce. They must not taste this before plating up. It almost looked as if it was slap happy on my plate. Service was okay, but we had to wipe our table down and ask for a cloth. They cleared the table but didn't wipe it. I ordered the Salmon Steak- disappointing with portion size. It sure didn't look like a salmon steak size portion, the other food, okay. The dish itself 3/10 needs something. First visit,...
