I was extremely displeased because of the vegetable shop owner. After reading other reviews, it seems this behavior isn’t unusual, and I really think some change is necessary.
I recently moved from another region and wasn’t familiar with how this market operates. I picked up some kimchi from the vegetable shop and put it in my basket, planning to continue shopping in other sections. But suddenly, the owner said, “Are you going to pay before you leave?” in a very abrupt tone, which left me quite shocked. When I responded with, “Excuse me?” he followed up with, “Either leave the item or pay for it now.” After I explained, “We’re still shopping,” he finally said, “Each section here is run by a different vendor.”
If he had just said something like, “This section is run separately, and the kimchi is sold by us. You can either come back to pay after browsing or pay here before continuing,” from the beginning, it would have been a completely different experience.
Since it was my first time at this market and I didn’t know how things worked, I think this kind of misunderstanding can easily happen. But the way you speak to someone makes a big difference in how they feel, especially when they’re a customer. I hope he considers that going forward.
That said, the man with long hair at the main checkout counter was incredibly kind and polite. Thanks to him, I was able to leave the store with a...
Read moreOn March 11th, I went to Wang Market Albany and bought two packs of candy. (that’s not the first time, my daughter loves this candy, it’s all good before). One was fine, but when I opened the other on March 22nd, I found that all the pieces were stuck together, slightly melted, and the color had darkened, making it inedible. I explained to the staff and manager that this was a quality issue and a food safety concern. However, the manager repeatedly emphasized that their company policy only allows returns within 7 days, and any issues after 7 days are not eligible for returns or exchanges. They even showed me the policy on their receipt. This behavior, whether intentionally illegal or out of ignorance, has left me very disappointed. My concern is that this candy was for my child, and when my daughter couldn’t get the candy out because it was stuck to the box. If she had been able to get it, she would have eaten it. I have now uploaded the audio from that day and photos of the candy, and have filed a complaint...
Read moreThe actual price was different from the displayed price, so I checked and requested to purchase the item at the displayed price. The cashier then seemed to report the situation to the manager. However, after confirming that we were Korean, the manager explained that the price had increased but they hadn’t been able to change the price tags due to a staff shortage. They insisted on selling the item at the higher price or suggested purchasing a different product.
I explained the Fair Trading Act and requested again, but the manager claimed they didn’t know about it and refused to honor the displayed price until the end, so I gave up on the purchase.
I find this situation incomprehensible and deeply disappointing. It’s shocking that an employee at a store as big as Wang Mart is unaware of such basic policies related to their job.
I am truly...
