Unwelcoming, food is very average. Complaints from people in my group. Yesterday was the most recent time I've been and was made to feel very unwelcome by all staff and especially management. The food has got more and more average as time has gone by. They have a policy of not booking tables and my group was fine with that so we turned up early. When we arrived at 10.30am and the place was just about empty. I asked out of courtesy if we could move 2 tables closer as we were a group, the staff agreed. But after we had started settling in they changed their mind and told us we weren't allowed to sit in the front but instead had to sit in the dark area out the back because they expected to be busy. We had already partly sat down so did not want to move, only half our group was there and we wanted the others to be able to find us. The staff were insistent and kept pushing us to move, so I promised we would not take more than 2 tables. It left a very unpleasant feeling and I almost took my group elsewhere. The place was still just about empty. We were standing to greet people and chat as they arrived but management told us we were not allowed to stand and if we wanted to stay we had to sit down. Seems strange since we're now at level 1, there is no restrictions and no one had had anything to eat or drink yet, not even a coffee. We weren't even close to any other tables (the place was still just about empty). But we sat down to get them off our backs. I asked the staff to ensure we all paid individually, some people in the group were people I don't know. They did not take notice of me and as a consequence I was left to pay for $56 of food that had been accidentally left unpaid. If the staff just took payment with the orders (as they have insisted on previously) I would not have been lumped with an extra charge. I usually take a group of 20- 30 people there and spend $1000 - $1500 3-4 times a year but won't now. They're just too unwelcoming and the food is getting worse. We'll instead go to the markets or Fabric restaurant which are much nicer and next door, food is 100% better and the staff welcoming. You can also book at Fabric so it's much more convenient. Great location so I'm glad there's alternative places to...
Read moreWent to Catalina Bay to check out Little Creatures. We ordered a Chili Prawn Pizza, Polenta Fries and the Crispy skinned rolled Pork Belly.
The Pork Belly, was so over priced and honestly the worst pork belly I've ever had. The skin wasn't even remotely crispy despite the description promising this! The meat was tough and chewy and none of the fat had rendered down at all and was so thick and chewy and you had to spit it out. The small amount of meat that was left was not enjoyable. I'm concerned that the chefs there don't know how to cook a pork belly and somehow are ok with serving this. Please stop serving this dish unless you can actually cook it correctly. I was looking forward to this and left pretty annoyed I paid $34.50 for something so poorly cooked. Also the stone fruit relish was just roasted fruit.... how is that a relish? The herbed farro salad, is just a small pile of bland farro - sorry but how is that a salad? Your descriptions on the menu in no way reflect what is actually being served.
The Pizza was equally disappointing, they have an amazing pizza oven yet serve up incredibly average Pizza. We ate it as we were hungry and were going for a big walk afterwards but $32 for what we were served is robbery. I would opt for a Dominos pizza over this. There were also a few random pieces of sausage on the pizza - not great if one of us at the table didn't eat meat. It was a prawn pizza, and was clearly cross contaminated with cabanossi sausage.
Lastly the Polenta chips are literally the 'Wild Chef' brand frozen Polenta chips. $14 for about 9 Polenta chips that are bought in is pretty cheeky. The truffle aioli didn't taste like truffle at all and the 'shaved' parmesan was actually a small amount of finely grated parmesan. Again very average and overpriced.
No salt and pepper available at the table and we had to ask for cutlery after our meals were delivered. We were also not given any water despite being told they would bring some when we sat down. Not a great experience overall.
Please fix your menu or drop your prices to match the quality of food you are actually serving.
Wouldn't go back and wouldnt recommend unless something...
Read moreA Real Disappointment, A Gem No More.
I am writing this review with a heavy heart, because Little Creatures Brewing used to be a gem of a spot in our city. Over the years, it became our go-to place for quality food and service. However, our latest visit left us questioning the stark contrast between what it once was and what it has become.
The first flag was the waiting time for our food. We waited for an astounding 45 to 50 minutes on multiple occasions, which is unacceptable by any restaurant's standards, let alone a previously trusted one like Little Creatures Brewing. The staff seemed to be more in disarray than on the ball, an unusual sight that had us growing increasingly impatient and frustrated.
When our food finally did arrive, our hopes were dashed immediately. The quality of the food was significantly below par. The ribs we ordered, normally a house favorite, were disappointingly soggy and barely above room temperature upon arrival. It's hard to fathom how a dish that once had us smacking our lips now barely evokes an appetite.
The tacos were an even bigger disappointment. What we expected to be a delightful mix of taste and texture turned out to be an underwhelming mess. The tacos lacked flavor and were scant on meat, the core ingredient. Instead, they seemed to be overstuffed with salad, a clear indicator that quantity was being favored over quality.
The ambiance and charm of Little Creatures Brewing have been overshadowed by the poor service, long wait times, and declining quality of food. It's heartbreaking to see such a great spot slide downhill so drastically.
Unfortunately, given these circumstances, it is now difficult to justify the prices they charge. It feels like we're paying premium prices for below-average service and food quality. I am hopeful they can turn things around, but until then, I would be hard-pressed to recommend this place to anyone.
We sincerely hope that the management takes this into consideration and brings back the quality we...
