There were 6 of us dining, i booked a couple of days in advance and emailed my request to make a meal more keto friendly which was not a problem. It was quite busy when we arrived at 6.45pm and we were warned that there would be a bit of a wait on mains, we arranged a couple of entrees to share. The squid rings were delicious very light but tasty with a light coating and tasty sauce. The chicken nachos were also nice the only minor surprise was that they did not have the option to have a non spicy version as the sauces were already premixed, the dish was still received well and demolished by the crew but i myself did not try any. Our table had 2 x Gerhard Burgers that came with Fries, the keto friendly meal of Seared Salmon and comanchero salad without the chicken and croutons, A Prawn Star meal with rice, A pork rib meal with coleslaw and chips and a Wagon wheel platter. Everyone enjoyed their meal! The portion sizes were very hearty. The keto meal was delicious, fresh Salad very tasty, fresh Salmon cooked well and very satisfying. The prawns were delicious coated with a nice blend of chilli and garlic. Mum had the smaller main of ribs and loved the succulent meat covered in sauce with still enough to share. Then there was the wagon wheel platter from the bar menu that had a range of chicken nibbles, ribs, fish, crumbed chicken and chips perfect for the whole table as an entree or a couple to share with a side salad or coleslaw. The two men at the table had the burgers and enjoyed their meals and some of the others. We were given a $15 voucher and being a couple of birthdays the birthday boys were given complimentary T Shirts. You are getting what you pay for here and the Albany branch was very clean, lovely and warm with a nice casual atmosphere. The staff were all young, friendly and clearly work very hard to keep everyone happy. Thanks very much team and compliments to you all for a lovely evening. We will be back.

A go-to spot for casual birthday dinners and overdue catch ups. A nice variety of seating options from booths, to half booths + chairs and covered outdoor dining. The food here is never a let down! The best garlic loaf in the whole city and I’m quite the garlic bread connoisseur 😂 although it takes some time, the steaks are always perfectly cooked and the ribs are delicious and never skimping on portion size. Good selection of steak sauces and it’s ideal that you can always ask the waiter/waitress to swap out any sides as I’m not the biggest fries person and usually prefer a soft creamy mash with my meats. Have yet to try the desserts but have heard very good things about them! Quick tip: download the Lonestar app and make sure to collect your receipts as you pay the bill. Scan the receipt code on the app and get rewards such as credit towards your next meal.

I'll try to be 100% HONEST with no sugar coating. But before I start review about this lonestar in Albany, I've been to lonestar restaurants in South Island and North Island. By far, I had the WORST SERVICE from this restaurant. Especially from this one person. Her name was Sophie I'm certain because she started serving us from the start then changed to other staff who were very friendly to us. The food was good. So we booked and came in at 5.30pm and sat down outside table for four persons. Me and my partner were waiting for our friends, as we sat down Sophie gave us menus and water and walked away, 30 minutes past No one was serving us(Even though this Staff(Blonde girl with White Tshirt) were serving table behind us knew we were waiting for orders. My partner had to get up and ask one of the staffs to serve our order. Then Sophie pick our orders. 5 minutes later, Sophie comes in with my drink and my partner's APPLE CIDER which was Mac's Gold Beer as Sophie was saying. Then my partner gets upset and I walk up to her and ask for Apple Cider. Then Sophie takes the glads while giving me an attitude with annoyed statement "I put down Apple Cider on my note, no idea why its not Apple Cider". Later on after we ordered our food from Sophie, we wanted to add side menu for our coming friend's meal so I walked up to Sophie again but she was annoyed and giving me weird look as I was telling her about the side menu. I was so angry and disappointed about her attitude. After all we finished our meal, Sophie asked my friends how was the food and they couldn't catch her question so asked again then she was annoyed again while repeating the question as looking like they couldnt understand English or something. But we were asked the same question by someone else by the pay counter and she was very nice. I'm guessing white tshirt staffs are waitress and black tshirt staffs are managers? ***If the Owner of this Albany Lone Star branch see my review, PLEASE either RETRAIN or DO SOMETHING about SOPHIE's professionalism tonight.***

Left a negative review and the manager at the counter got mad. Lol. 1st visit in this store I received a $20 bday voucher and it only says there minimum order is $50 to avail the voucher but the manager tried to outsmart me that the total bill must still be above $50 when the $20 voucher is deducted. He explained it twice. We let it pass at the first time and enjoyed the meal. The girls who serve us were friendly and the food we ate is good. Second visit we got the free dessert voucher and I was surprise the manager at the counter keeps telling my partner the we have to order a dessert so we can avail another free dessert —He clearly said that trying to outsmart us again. So I butt in to their conversation because in the terms and conditions in the app, the minimum order is $30 to avail the free dessert and it did not say there to order a dessert so that you get another free dessert. Then, he change the conversation from “TO AVAIL THE FREE DESSERT YOU HAVE TO ORDER DESSERT TO GET ANOTHER DESSERT FOR FREE” to “TO AVAIL THE FREE DESSERT YOU HAVE TO ORDER DESSERT”. We went to the table and the girl who served us was nice and friendly. My partner asked again about the voucher and she made it easy and simpler to understand the T&C’s. We spent $112 and the meal was lovely but because the manager has gave me stress I could not finish my mains even though I came hungry and was really looking forward to eat. I left a negative comment when I was in the table because I though the way he welcomed us in the counter was rude. When we were about to leave and pass by the counter before the exit, the manager stop us to ask if we were the ones who left the negative comment and I said I was the one. I thought he would apologise but end up cranky lol. I have to say the LoneStar app is effective attracting customers and we were hook to try their food. Honestly, the food is great but we will never comeback here to see the grumpy guy. LOL

Dined in last saturday 17/12/2020.. Surprise birthday dinner with extra guests my niece didnt know about. Our birthday girl was a tad late for a 6.30pm booking but absolutely no fuss made by Lonestar staff for the delay.. From our arrival to seeing Andy with his welcoming smile at the front desk, our beautiful, amazingly patient, & unfazed waitress Megan & her team, to our finally leaving ( yup..we were the last to leave) to Grace & Henry also..thanx to all of you for going the extra mile for all of our family & not hurrying us along with all our photos & lonnng goodbyes.. Proffessionalism at its finest!!! P.S.. Our above 4.5 rating (theres no half star) was because 6 of us (and only 6 of 35) weren't feeling the love of our coleslaw hahaha.. but other than that Lonestar Albany Rocks!!

So glad we decided to have birthday dinner for my 7 year old here. It was amazing from the time we entered through the doors. Absolutely amazing staff, greeted with smiles, and taken to our table to find a surprise gift wrapped and a special note wishing her a happy birthday. Food was divine!! And the Chocolate celebration cake was out of this world. My daughter loved it so much that she asked to see the chef who made it to say Thank you and it was amazing 😊. The chef was kind enough to come out to our table and have a little chat with her. The staff were just really amazing with the my kids, so patient, calm and my kids totally enjoyed the attention from them as well. Completely reccomend Lone Star Albany for a family event. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
