Today was hubby's 28th Birthday and last minute we decided to watch a golden class movie.
Very exited and ready to start I heard extremely vulgar language behind me, I turned to look and a few lads young 12-14 years old saying horrid things to eachother ( I do understand that teenage boys will be teenage boys ) after a few minutes they initiated a fight with eachother , they were screaming and swearing and it was had to listen to. I went to find the first available person I saw to assist, she immediately listen to what I had to say and walked with me to resolve the matter, the boys were given a warning and everything went great from there for about 20 min...
It started again, the loud uncontrollable vulgar language , this time I felt like it was aimed at me personally because I was the one who ratted them out. They would laugh at me while I'm trying to take a bite of my food, making me feel very uncomfortable, they would flash their phone on certain parts of my body laugh as well. Instead of saying something this time I told myself this was just teenage boys thinking they are having a good time, my husband noticing everything, asked them through the couch to please stop and put their phones flashes off. One kid got up and kicked my husband's chair and laughed hysterically. My husband got up and went outside to speak to someone instead of me this time, the same lady , came in walking with my husband immediately asked them to please leave . I felt bad for the boys because I am human and I was a teenager once to but I also wasn't sorry because no human being could enjoy a movie in that space, the other people continuously looked up from their seats to see what the commotion was about.
In the end of the day the movie didn't go as planned. But I wanted to thank the lady that helped us, heard us and immediately tried to assist us. I did not get a chance to see her name , despite it all we are very grateful of her customer service and we appreciated what she did. We will happily return for another golden class...
Read moreI thought I already wrote a review for events cinema Albany, but must be mistaken? It is the best for me besides the Queen Street one downtown. I enjoyed watching avatar 2 , my first 3d movie since avatar 1 re release a couple months ago, which was the first since I was a kid, probably force awakens or something. Tickets are reasonable, you can get discounts as well, definitely good to use the cinema card which builds up points over time. Don’t buy snacks at the counter, it will cost you a kidney’s worth for a drink and a bag of m&ms. Popcorns expensive but fine, it’s kind of the only way to buy popcorn hot and fresh. Don’t think too hard about the chemicals or what the butter flavour is made out of. I buy snacks before going, usually at countdown, but there is the Albany mall New World if you are running late. Much cheaper and doesn’t make you feel as upset when you finish all your snacks in the 20 minutes of pre movie ads. Toilets are ok, definitely wise to use them right before entering. Children are annoying, just tell them to shut up or throw gummy bears at them if you are sitting behind. Booking online is useful, annoying that it costs...
Read moreWent to see Dune 2 in Gold Class during a special run where Dune 1 & 2 were played back to back
Positives: Excellent staff, very attentive, friendly and welcoming. Cleaned up our table often Sundae that came with the $65 date night package was great. Nachos were above average- the rest of the food was average.
Would not recommend the Polenta fries. They’re very hard (although maybe that’s how they’re supposed to be? I didn’t enjoy it.
Cheeseboard was also pretty average for the price.
Negatives: Cinema screen…. It was actually very disappointing. Particularly for Dune 1. I had a better experience watching it at home on my own TV. The light bleed made some scenes impossible to pick out detail. Anything black was just completely washed out.
The colours were also in general very washed out and lacked much detail.
For that reason alone I’m rating two stars. It ruined the rewatch of Dune 1 for me completely and I think I will watch dune 2 again on my own TV.
My partner also found there was no toilet paper in the female...
