Edit post-reply: Try addressing the points raised next time if you're going to reply. Id have happily looked to revisit had you take the input and offer to rectify. Constructive criticism is all I am providing. Being busy should have no affect on service standards, let alone meal quality or lack of any kind of follow up service. And no, I have not been here before so I don't have a pre-set expectation other than what I'd consider is 'good service'. Lose a star for that one.
A couple points worth ensuring your staff observe a bit better:
While all servers were polite and friendly, the experience overall was poor for somewhere not even that busy and what we saw was well staffed.
If a group of 20ish book a table... If half the table has arrived, don't just take those peoples drink orders to start then never come back for the rest of those who arrive who then have to hunt down staff to place theirs. Set the knives and forks and serviettes on the tables being that it was a lunch booking. Serviette on the side, knife and fork placed on top, repeat for each seat at the table. We don't appreciate having some knives and forks dumped in the corner of the table for all of us to then awkwardly divvy out. Then have to request serviettes and have a stack placed in the middle of the table again for everyone to have to grab individually (is this not a restaurant after all?) Don't leave the entire table for nearly 20 minutes after everyone's seated to take their food orders. If a customer has to come to the bar and ask when someone will come wait on the table, you've already sunk expectations sorry to say. Then after a long wait, bring half the orders out, then later some more and about 30 minutes after the first steak came out does the last guy get a simple curry... Learn what medium rare means. Moreover why does a T-bone come out looking like it's been tenderized with a meat mallet? If you open a bag of corn chips, chances are despite resealing them, they'll be stale not too long after. Therefore, don't serve them up anyway in a nachos dish where the chips are akin to eating a fruit roll-up. 5a. If the customer raises this issue with the meal and sends it back, offer to remake - don't just say 'sorry' and walk off with it to let the customer go hungry and have to share his wife's dish? Re varnish your tables, they are sticky and well past due.
Did request to speak to the manager to raise these but he was not around. Safe to say we will not be back...
Read moreWe ate at The Albany for Mother's Day dinner and the evening felt like a comedy of errors. One of our five-person party was allergic to onions and chose the venue for its online menu and the large number of options it offered her. She made the booking online, and only when we got there did we discover that they had a significantly restricted menu and only one of the options that evening could be made onion-free. At least that made her decision for what to eat easy.
The restaurant didn't look super busy, but we then proceeded to wait for around 40 minutes for the first two dishes to be brought out, and then the next two came maybe 5 minutes after that. When the final dish (mine) still hadn't arrived after around another 20 minutes, my husband went to check on what had happened, and was told they'd lost the order and had to make it fresh, but that it would only be 2-3 more minutes.
We had been planning to order dessert, but when - 15 or so minutes after I finished - we'd tried and failed to make eye contact several times with the staff who were standing around at the bar chatting and our plates were still uncleared from the table, we gave up and walked over to the bar to pay.
One of our party members clearly laid out the issues we'd had, and the staff member at the till looked embarrassed and may have muttered an apology, but rang up our order in full. It wasn't until we asked to speak to a manager to have the bill adjusted to reflect the poor service that we'd experienced that they deducted the cost of my meal from the total bill. The food itself was OK, but the service really let it down, and we now know not to...
Read moreWe are very regular visitor's to this local restaurant in the Albany area, normally on a Sunday afternoon and we come in a big group to enjoy the great experience and very good food.
They have a full menu as well as the Sunday Special for a very good price. We had the Sunday Chicken Special and got half a chicken, potatoes and veggies with a beautifully flavoured sauce, a really big meal and value for money.
They have a huge variety on the menu and the portions a big, covering anything from Burgers, Steaks, French Fries and they also have a kids menu.
They have a fully inclusive bar and on cool / cold days they have a fire burning in the fire place, very nice and snuggly.
They have a great team in the kitchen, bar service and front of house - they a very friendly and helpful. We go and do a group order and sit and enjoy our drinks or coffee and then our meals are brought to us.
Very highly reccomend to all current and future customers, come out and support our local businesses during these tough times. We will definitely be back next Sunday afternoon for lunch and so looking forward to enjoying a good healthy meal.
There are great Special run during the week and over the weekends. Truly great value for money and Sundays they have some form of "Roast's" ranging from Chicken, Ham, Mutton etc. Such a good hearty meal to enjoy and the servings are big.
For the New Year, they have streamlined their menu, a great new look They still run daily Specials, seriously good...
