On the 14/10/2020. I went to Gastronomics with my friends. Waitresses were lovely and it started off well. I ordered the Fettuccine, as it was described amazing and sounded good. Food was quick. Mine arrived and it looked average, it looked like Pasta out of a package from PackNSave, ham from the Deli and shredded chicken from a packet. I was sceptical to eat it. I had a few mouth fills, my pasta was still hard and it just wasn’t that creamy fettuccine, I was thinking I was going to get. The waitress came over to collect our plates. I’m not a person to say anything, but I thought actually no, people need to know construction feedback and how they can improve. Not everyone is perfect and I understand that. If I was a chef I would want to know. So I told the waitress, it was actually really average, pasta was not cooked well and it was just wasn’t great. She then went back and told the chef. He came out and spoke to me. He started off well, asked what was wrong with the pasta, I explained. He said sorry, can I get you anything else. I said no thank you, it’s okay. He should have left it there, but then proceeded by saying, the lady next door ate all hers and it was made in the same batch. I said this is my opinion, and it wasn’t great. He then said to the lady next door, can I please take your plate and then held it in front of me and said look, see she ate it all. I was shocked, I was completely embarrassed. The chef is rude and it was so out of line to put someone in the position and completely embarrass them in front of everyone in the restaurant. The way I was treated I will never go back, and I will never recommend. So disappointing!! Any good chef, would have said I’m so sorry, can I make you something else and leave it at that. There was no way I was paying for it, and lucky I didn’t. Thanks for that, but you need to work on taking constructive feedback and looking at how you can make it better, and not humiliate your customers in front of everyone. No...
Read moreShocking service We were a party of 10 who dined on a Saturday night. It was very busy so we had a long wait time for food, but mostly the food was great - apart from a steak that was ordered medium but came very overdone.
WHat was appalling and would put us all off from going back was the service we received. First of all the wine list is terrible...if you're not going to provide a decent wine list then make it BYO - it is a shame when the food is good to not be able to drink a nice wine to go with it. When I go to a restaurant I want to drink a good wine that I can't get at the supermarket for $12 a bottle...we wish chose the only other bottle available which was $50 a bottle - and for that you'd expect it to be good. It wasn't. A taster wasn't offered before the bottle landed on our table, so we didn't have the opportunity to reject it. It was undrinkable...but when we mentioned this to the wait staff, nothing happened. So we went up to the bar and complained and said we couldn't drink it, left the bottle there, and had to order the only other one available, the $12 supermarket one (which was $37 at the restaurant), thinking they would refund or at least discount the undrinkable one...no such luck. THe manager eventually came out, no apology, no refund, nothing. His manner was rude, and made it seem like it was our fault for ordering it. None of the wait staff or owner would even try the wine to see what our whole party was saying about it. We left the rest of the wine there.
This was utterly appalling - I have not had such an awful experience in a restaurant before. I work with the public and would never think of treating people like this. And because of this we won't be back, which is a shame because the food was good. Just let down by bad customer service and a truly...
Read moreWhile the food was really good one staff member ruined mine and my boyfriend's evening.
Not sure if it's new staff or lack of staff or if our waitress was just judgemental either way, no excuse for everyone else being served properly, but! My boyfriend stated he made a 6:30 reservation, to which the older woman ignored him and said "7". She sat us down and gave us the menus only to disappear for 25 minutes, never said she would be back, never asked if we would like water or like to see the specials but offered everyone else and gave everyone else water. (From what I see it's the same waitress everyone has had issues with.)
We watched the head chef do her jobs for 15-20 minutes clearing tables and bringing drinks, he didn't just bring us water, he also made our drinks. That's not his job. He's a lovely man and is always very nice and friendly, he deserves a raise. The younger girl was very friendly and even made conversation with us as we paid. Which leaves me confused, did she just not take me and boyfriend seriously because we were young, did she not like the fact my boyfriend wore a t-shirt and hat which he took his hat off. ( But there was another lady who didn't take her hat off) Or did she just not like me?
Side note: my duck a little over done but still yummy and I enjoyed it a lot and sadly I couldn't taste the Baily's in my panna cotta. Being a lover of baileys and Panna Cotta, when i read those words I do hope to expect that rich cream taste and a bit of bite from the whiskey, like when I eat the chocolates. The food was good anyway and it always have been. The owner is a lovely man and...
