Pearl Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Waitematā

-Relatively good environment -Most of food we ordered were delicious though some of them were not at the right temperature eg. Beef with bamboo shoots was not hot enough. -Reasonable price -All the waiters and waitresses who served us tonight were working hard, buy they rarely smile. We did not really feel welcome. While dining nobody came over to check if we liked our food. -One young guy who arranged us seated was friendly and helpful. -Menus look shabby, which need to be redesigned. -The tea served was lukewarm, to our disappointment, 8 napkins for 11 diners, not enough serving chopsticks or spoons. Some cutlery are not perfect with stains. -They listened to customers and complaints. (We received unexpected huge discount at the checkout counter). That was a huge relief to me. -I believe that this restaurant has room to improve. It's a not recommend from me. Service was good, it can not however compensate for the rest. Food were terrible presentation looks like left over from another dish just slapped on to the dish. I am not suggesting that it was leftovers, to the ppl in the kitchen if you can not be stuff doing your job, just leave don't ruined your employer business and the effort of foh. However FOH should also haved look at the dish presentation before putting it in front of the customer. The vegetables in the dishes were hastily cut and uneven cooked unevenly some part were cooked other were crunchy raw or half cooked. Such a bad experience, the guy that was working with glasses in white 3/8/25. He was so so so rude. He hit one of my friends while opening the door, and didn’t even say sorry and just walked out. Plus they have no lighter for cakes, no knife, nothing. Food was very poorly presented; they asked us to clean ourselves. Asking us not to make a mess for him to clean up later - we book a room ( supposed to be private - but can hear what everyone outside is saying).
