I had an extended stay at the Quest Ponsonby from the 08/07 until the 08/10 2021, if you're going to do the same I strongly wouldn't recommend it. In my room the washing machine leaked, the oven smokes heavily when turned on also leaked as the seal was dodgy, multiple blown light bulbs, broken bedside table lamp, I received a 200v shock from the dishwasher as a result from there being a completely broken handle that took 2 days to fix after my boss made a complaint also when the kettle was turned on it would trip all the rooms circuit breakers. My co-workers room had water leaking out of the power point socket which was another massive electrical hazard. Another had to switch rooms because the power completely cut out in his room. It seems there are no electrical inspections done in these rooms with the last one being 2015 (written on the dryer) it could have been very dangerous. The owner is rude and doesn't apologise once, brushes off feedback with his only concern being saving money. The location and space of the room is great if you want to stay here for a night or 2 but you can get much better value in the area. Cleaning is pretty poor and they never vacuumed my room once, only right outside my room at 10:30am on sunday morning. In my stay I witnessed multiple people using drugs with a constant smell of marijuana when opening up a window, doors being broken into, people spitting off balconies etc. The receptionist Ditty is very kind and was lovely to all our staff members and we were all very pleased with her positive attitude and friendliness and couldn't have been better. We have also noticed Raj the owner yelling at his employees and treating them unfairly. Fortunately work had paid for my accommodation otherwise I would've stayed elsewhere. Raj incorrectly charged a separate customer for parking their car in the underground parking and tried to blame us and overall struggles to manage. If you're traveling internationally it also makes it difficult as you will only receive 1x 15GB wifi token that lasts a week with Raj trying to get you to buy more data if you run out. Even through Level 4 restrictions staying here unable to work it was still difficult to get more wifi tokens from him when working remotely but thankfully Ditty was kind enough to look after us. The sinks in the room were also very clogged barely draining taking minutes. Poor fan ventilation when having a shower, one co-worker discovered mould on his curtains...
Read moreI would like to share my extremely unfortunate experience at QUEST PONSONBY. My partner and I stayed at this establishment for only one night, and although the facilities seemed normal at first, our stay turned into a real nightmare.||||The problem began when we went out at night and returned after 4 hours to find that the door was unlocked, the window of the room had been forced open, and all our belongings had been stolen. EVERYTHING! We immediately reported the incident to the hotel staff, but they were not available since there is no receptionist during the early morning hours. So, we called the police, who confirmed that there were signs of forced entry in the room.||||Later, when we were able to contact the hotel staff, specifically the manager, he showed no concern or empathy for our situation. Instead, he told us that they were not responsible for the theft and that they could not do anything about it. This seemed unacceptable to us, as the hotel has the responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of its guests. It's a basic obligation!||||The lack of action and indifference from the manager were truly disappointing. Furthermore, when we asked for help, since we had lost everything, they only said that if the police asked for the security footage, they would provide it. This made us feel that we were not important and that our problem was not worthy of attention.||||BEWARE! of the contract that you have to sign upon arrival to access the room, as it states that they are not responsible for any damages or losses of personal belongings.||||In summary, our experience at QUEST PONSONBY was a disaster. The lack of security, the indifference of the staff, and the lack of action to resolve our problem have led us not to recommend this hotel to anyone. If you are considering staying at this place, I advise you to look for...
Read morePerfect location, excellent parking options underground and a comfortable bed and pillows. Unfortunately our room had several things that where broken or not working properly, the fridge needed to be defrosted as the ice box was so frozen over the door could not be shut, bedside light bulb was blown, the dryer kept on turning off every 5 mins when we had set it to 1hr and the shower leaked on the side, so water would pool on the corner and spread along the bathroom floor, it seems like this issue has be going on for a while as there was water damage down the side and all so the bath/shower had green mould along the edge of bath/wall and shower door. Sound proofing is non existent, lots of street noise as well was in house resident noise. Bring ear plugs! The boozers use the courtyard/ front entrance as a public toilet as we were made aware when we had an fire emergency on Saturday night... seemed like there was no plan in place to do a head count or an obvious place for guest to gather... our stay was ok, not great and I would be pushed to stay again... as we paid a good chunk of cash for a weekend stay. The staff and general feel of the place was very sterile and unfriendly and not overly welcoming. Make sure you check your bill and credit card bill for any extra billing as we were charged for parking we had already paid for! So over all, such a shame this place has no reason to be sub standard, keep on top of your business and improve your standards....
