The Coffee Club Avondale — Restaurant in Whau

First time visit at the CC Avondale- Clean apart from the couple of pigeons that’s were inside and bouncing around on the floor. No effort from staff to remove.

Order online- interesting but nothing beats face to face contact. I approached front of house and discussed a meal that would suit an 80 year old- this is my preference, ensuring his needs are met. Can’t do this online!

Thirdly- the wait was astonishing, considering there were two other tables that came after us and they were served first- I think because we didn’t order online we were pushed back- so that hiccup needs to be managed.

Fourthly- two orders were incorrect from other tables- one order was incorrect and someone else to dine in but was given in packages as a takeaway meal. By this time my 80 year old father was getting unsettled with the wait time and he also notice the other tables came after us.

The prices were semi ok, I don’t mind paying for good food but this was a fraction above very good but NOT leaning towards this cafe being referred to others as a a place to go.

My last observation was the tables were not cleared when people had left and the dirty dishes were not removed by staff, I did witness customers clearing a table in Oder to sit at a preferable table against the wall and opposite the serving counter.

This place has so much potential but so many shortfalls.

The young man at the FOH was lovely but this doesn’t make up with what I witnessed when we were there for an hour...

That’s the most terrible experience ever. I have conditions when I can’t eat any spicy food. Thus, I asked before the order if there is ANY spicy ingredients in the beef burgers. This lady assured me there was nothing spicy. When I got the burger it was extremely spicy - sauce, meat, herbs on fries. I couldn’t stand it. Complained about it to the same woman who blamed me in not knowing what used in advance, kept giving me suggestions how I should have done my research before the order. Then I asked her to stop teaching me and she said that I was trespassed. Well, she refunded the cost of the burger though was saying it should be only half price. Horrible experience. They definitely don’t provide any good customer service making people feel wrong and guilty for their mistakes. Update response: This woman was threatening me that she was the owner and I wouldn’t be allowed in her territory any more. I was very patient though still don’t want to be taught how to do research on their food. When we come to to eat outside we expect people to be frank whether they use any spices or not. Obviously, this lady-owner has no respect to her customers. So sad. Don’t recommend...

Outstanding food, perfect service, a template for how it should be

We visited for breakfast on Monday for the first time, but will definitely be back when my love is back in town again. Might go back again by myself as food was very tasty and can’t wait longer to try egg bene with salmon. We ordered two dishes each to share. Both dishes were cooked to perfection with lovely flavour combinations. There were quite few people in the store, however we got our food very quickly. The service was also friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The atmosphere is very congenial and the staff most welcoming. I loved the menu, huge variety to choose from, not just the food they have lots of drinks as well. I would like to try all the items on the menu. Eggs Benedict with BBQ Pulled Pork & Spinach, Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Omelette, Chicken & Bacon Club Sandwich, French Toast with Caramelised Banana and SO ON… EVERYTHING . In store special are really good for money, however I used the coupon which I found in my mail box and got huge discount. Best place in Avondale to catch up with your friends and loved ones and to have yummy...
