Taste Cafe & Bakery Avondale — Restaurant in Whau

Staff and service were really lovely. 5 stars! Food was okay, but personally found the pricing a little steep for what i got. Have been in multiple times over the past couple years since moving to the area, but only ever got food from the cabinet (Which is great).

However, this morning i thought id get a cooked breakfast. Mince on toast w/ additional hash brown ($3) tomato ($3) and 1x egg ($2.50, the foh person gave me a .50 discount.) when the food arrived the bread was fresh but only slightly toasted, the mince was full of Veg (which i liked) but was really apparent, that it was just left over pie filling taste was okay, but texture was pretty gelatinous. The portion size of the additions seemed a little unbalanced vs the cost. For instance at $3 each i got 1/4 of a tomato. The hash brown the size of half a deck of playing cards and a fried egg the size of a disposable coffee cup lid. Spent a total of $28.20 (including a small coffee that was good) see pic.

All in all, i’ll still recommend taste and still support it, i just think (personally) that i’d adjust expectations to reality when it comes to the cooked dine...

Tasty Cafe & Bakery in Avondale is a popular eatery that I've often visited in the last few years. The overall impression I get is that this is a great place to buy food from or dine in with family and friends. The array of pies the bakery creates is unique and never disappoints! I went for the new Cambodian fish curry pie and hot chips and it was a great combo! The pie pastry is always on point, the curry flavour infused with lemongrass (I think) is unique and flavoursome and the hoki fish melts in your mouth! Also the hot chips were crispy and tasty! Great pie and hot chips and I'll be back...

Bought a seafood pie here a couple weeks ago took it home to eat, took a bite and it had a very overwhelming strong vinegar tast. It seems as though they have used the marinated mussels bought in the plastic containers from the supermarket. Seafood flavors are to be enjoyed, the vinegar flavor takes away any enjoyment from this so called seafood pie. Very disappointing as I've had seafood pies here previously and they...
