It's a whole experience at The Orchid Bistro. Even though it's my second time here, it feels like a new experience for me. I drove into the compound and met this wide array of flowers hanging everywhere. It's a sight!
Then I looked at their menu, which was straight to the point for me. I ordered Braised rice with Stuffed salmon with cheese and spinach. Desert was a chocolate milkshake.
Afterwards, I went through the rooms to fully explore all that is Orchid Bistro. I noticed the servers had their masks on, which impressed me. Guests could eat their meal in the garden or any of the rooms. I chose outside to be closer to nature. There were plants everywhere in the rooms. I later discovered they sell the plants.
The toilets are spotless and well-maintained. It was my first time seeing toilets in a restaurant in this state. It felt like a place in a top hotel. Neatly folded napkins hung in a roll at the entrance and inside the toilet. There was a hand wash and lotion also placed at the entrance and in the toilet. The floral scents from the hand wash filled the air as I used the toilet.
I had the milkshake first. It was delicious. I stopped myself from having another. Then, the servers served the Braised rice with the Salmon, and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. The Braised rice and the Salmon were well prepared. There were chunks of vegetables, which I thought was quite thoughtful.
The attendants were very helpful. I had two servers to my table who answered my questions with glee and assisted me when I asked for help.
How much I spent on the meal? Stuffed salmon (Came with braised rice): N19,500 Extra braised rice: N2000 Milkshake: N4000 Water: N1500 Service...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was a mixed experience owing from the fact my experience in a different branch was wonderful.
I'd start with the positives. I enjoyed the Salmon Steak Potatoes. The salmon was great, potatoes well done and I always appreciate the added vegetablesš¤¤. I quite enjoyed the chicken stir-fry with French fries as wellšš½. The spaghetti bolonese was okay, I've had better. Though I didn't take a picture, the chicken pie was good. The brownie seems overpriced. The apple/pineapple juice and strawberry smoothie were both great, no complaints there. They also adhered to covid protocols which was reassuring.
Possibly because it was a Sunday, it was filled on the inside and the outside was under maintenance and too hot to sit underš„. This meant we didn't have proper sitting in-house. So we had to move to the car š. Our waiting time was longer than the advised 30 minutes as well. Considering the situation it would have been courteous if we didn't have to bare the burden of the take away packs but oh well.
The parking lot was another issue. It has just one lane in. With the inflow of people, you'd end up blocking someone who'd likely leave before you are done. This would likely lead to your meal being interrupted. Depending on how you park, you might have to reverse all the way to the entrance. This was our case and the security weren't kind enough to help us get on the roadš. That wasn't easy.
The rest room wasn't as clean as I'd have expected. The decor in the previous branch I visited is better with more attention to details. I also think a built in audio system would help the ambience a lot better than a soundbox.
I do hope these issues can be worked on because it has a lot...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was going to give the place 3 stars but I'll give it two because it actually is not bad when it comes to ambience and security. But on the food...the main reason why I came...it was too small... you know I paid 8500 for a plate of Spaghetti that was so small..even if you guys had mad a whole sachet of spagh for me It would have been justifiable for 8500. They made like a quarter of a quarter of a sachet for me. Under like 7 rolls of fork the food had finished and then it had just 3 prawns on it. That's cheating...when just very close by there is a restaurant that for 3500 I'd get a stomach feeling delicious bowl full of spahagetti and Plantain.
I was charged 2500 for service charge... egbami o. 2500 for kini. In total I paid like over 20k for a plate of food in a restaurant that is on the mainland..that's why they didn't have many customers...it's too expensive pls. If two people can't get a decent meal for 12k on the mainland...where as on the island 12k would do.
Then coming to the second order that my guest made. On the menu they said fish and chips but on serving it was fish fillet and chips.
For me o...my problem with the place is the expensive service, you guys don't even need that much staff as we're laying about...I entered and like 10 staff members were already saying welcome sir, at that moment I was like ahh I go pay salary today and which I did.
Anyways you guys can provide better services by improving on the food as I feel that's the main reason why it is a restaurant abi bistro..what's even the meaning of bistro ? I feel duped I swear...thanks but no thanks.
