I bumped into this hotel by chance! And because I LOVED it right from the outside! I knew I had to speak to the owner to be part of our young women Summit 2025 2nd Edition!
I am waiting to hear from the Management so we can have a WIN- WIN engagement.
The whole external setting of Shoregate speaks volumes for me. Impressively right from the gate! A RARE Feature I must say with my 21 years plus engagement in this sector!
Gatemen/ Women many times think that position gives them a chance to "flex" and have a moment "Power"! But, many of them need to be better trained and oriented about the fact that. It is not a position to "Flex muscles" of unearn and uncalled for power. It is a POST/ROLE to SERVE all customers visiting and establishment. And a truly amazing role that can position them distinguishly as the Gateman I met at Shoregate. He was respectful, aware of details of his duty post, welcoming, and eager to give "directional service" to an establishment that his tone conveyed was a WIN- WIN one that showed he felt like a stakeholder that needed to "Win" another new potential stakeholder- me!
I was thrilled and gave him me Best charming smile! You can imagine! He was touched!
Was that all Nope!
Getting in! At the reception lounge! If I could afford it I would have. Said please call me the waiter! I need to order a COCKTAIL! And just relax here till "thy kingdom comes"!🤗🥰.
That is how inviting it was!
But just as I was still "day dreaming" .
The Manager came to attend to me! And my stay was over!😭🤗.
But, I can without a doubt tell you. If the Gateman and lounge left an impression on me!
Then you need to try it out and come share a written review here of your own experience different from mine! And I hope it's more delightful too!🙈🤗. But never mind still share it. Here I love FEEDBACKS!
it's yours...
Read moreShoregate hotel located in The Ikeja GRA area of Lagos is a comfortable hotel. Decor is tops with Italian marble mainly but it's tempered with local African decorations. Benin masks mainly and a few Ife bronze masks in burnished wood. The staff bend over to make your stay memorable and comfortable. Four stars because the complimentary breakfast is not delivered to your room, but the complimentary buffet is rather rich. Rooms are really comfortable. I overnighted with my wife and when we were shown our room, we complained about the size and location...we were upgraded to a suite with no number. When we went down for breakfast we said our room had no number. The restaurant staff without batting an eyelid just said...fourth floor? So they seemed to know the "number-less room". Interior of the room is what is in my uploaded photographs. The room has a combination safe in the wardrobe for valuables, an ironing board and a pressing iron on demand. The ante room (sitting room) had a decent toilet and wash up area. Shoregate has a postage sized swimming pool...while small it is scrupulously clean. The car park could be bigger and the views...

Pros: great location in Ikeja GRA, close to most things one would need (restaurants, shops, Banks/ATMs, bars etc), nice decor throughout the rooms and lounge areas, quiet rooms insulating one from the Lagos roads' noise, 24/7 electricity which switches over to back-up power in about 30 seconds when needed (satellite TV stays on, so one never experiences total darkness), central A/C cools effectively, with the complimentary breakfast for one, there is a good choice on the buffet (Nigerian and Western) from 6:30- to 9:30am, nice lounge areas to entertain visitors, small but nice-looking swimming pool and professional & friendly staff.
Cons: patchy internet access (I augmented with mobile phone data), small parking space for the hotel size and function (I used the Bolt app to move around Lagos removing need for a car), swimming pool area lacked a social atmosphere, restaurant prices were too high (I ate at the many nice restaurants around GRA), gym had a number of equipment that were...
