Puro — Restaurant in Maitama

My Bookclub had its end of year event at Puro.

I loved the black and pink decor on the tables that were set up for us, as pink is a major color for the Club.

The dishes we had were largely tasty and well prepared with the exception being the mushroom beef sauce which was a little salty.

My favorite dish was the fish kebabs which were tender and yet not undercooked and with very lightly charred edges. The yellow and green bell peppers were also nicely crunchy. The prawns had a tasting crispy batter and the wings were well spiced beneath the lightly sticky delicious coating. The starter spread was generally quite a hit

I also loved the fried rice. It was easily one of the tastiest in 2023 and the grains were cooked just right

Service and ambience left a little to be desired with the noise from the speakers directly overhead being a huge bummer. We couldn’t speak to the person seated right next to us and it took over an hour before the volume was reduced a little bit.

I’d try it again though. Maitama isn’t high up on my list of places because of crime in the past and poor lighting in some streets so I may go when the Abuja sun is either fully out or just a little shy.
