A disappointing experience from start to finish
We decided to try this Indian restaurant, the only one in the area, but unfortunately, our experience was disastrous.
Reception and service: From the moment we arrived, we felt an unwelcoming atmosphere, as if our presence was an inconvenience (perhaps because we arrived at 9 PM?). The bald and indifferent waiter seemed completely uninterested. When taking our order, he stared at his notepad without ever confirming our choices, leaving us confused. There was no advice on the dishes, no effort to make the experience pleasant. To make matters worse, he handed us our plates directly instead of placing them on the table like in any proper restaurant—a completely unprofessional gesture that added to our discomfort.
Drinks: We ordered Coca-Cola and were served two glasses of flat soda, likely from an already-opened bottle. The original bottle was, of course, nowhere to be seen.
Food: We ordered samosas, a chicken chef special (mango), lamb tikka, and garlic naan. • The samosas were acceptable but far from remarkable. • The two main dishes were a massive disappointment, served in a very crude manner, with no connection to Indian cuisine whatsoever. • The “chicken chef special” was just a bland tomato sauce with chunks of chicken, and the mango listed in the menu was entirely missing. • The lamb tikka was even worse: a few onions and bits of overcooked lettuce with no spices or flavors typically associated with this traditionally spicy dish. It was flat, unimaginative, and completely unrelated to what one expects from authentic Indian cuisine.
End of the meal: At the end of the meal, the waiter didn’t come to our table to help us settle the bill. Even though he clearly saw us looking his way, he chose to ignore us and stayed by the reception area. We had to get up, put on our coats, and go to him to ask if we could take the leftovers to go. His response? Cold and dismissive: he told us to pack it ourselves. We stood there awkwardly for 20 seconds, waiting for him to react. Finally, after some insistence, he pulled a plastic container from a drawer and handed it to us with visible contempt.
The cost: All of this for a bill totaling nearly 800 NOK. A hefty price for such a disappointing experience.
Conclusion: We are globe-trotters and lovers of Indian cuisine, having tried restaurants in many countries. Without hesitation, this was the worst experience we’ve ever had at an Indian restaurant, both in terms of service and food.
We strongly advise tourists and locals alike to avoid this restaurant. A complete...
Read moreThis place shouldn't serve good to the general public. A home cook could cook Indian food. This didnt taste like Indian or well actually didn't taste like any food. Oddest experience ever. So disappointing. It isn't restaurant food! It also isn't hard to watch even Gordon Ramsay and following his Indian receipes. That's how much help these guys need! No way the staff there think that's anything to do with sub continent cooking let alone Indian! Those chairs need to go! Those fake gold metal plates. Yuck. Guys go to google, search for receipes and practice on those! Or close the restaurant. Don't rip people off and don't disgrace the heritage of that culture to make a quick krone! Awesome location, it's not rocket science. Please you are not cheap. Come on! Need help? You are better then this! Be proud of what you...
Read moreWe didn't expect to find an Indian restaurant in a small city like Bodo, Norway. So we were thrilled. We didn't have much expectations but the food was outstanding. We ordered the onion naan and the taste and texture was unlike any naan that we have eaten around the world. It was different, definitely good different. The side dishes were very tasty too and the Vegetable biriyani too. Moreover the owner was such a friendly and welcoming person. He even gave us a pack of yogurt for free when I asked him where to buy yogurt because that was our first day in Bodo and we hadn't explored anything yet. The dal soup was delicious too. So we went again for lunch another day too during our week's stay in Bodo. We will always fondly remember our stay and experience at Bodo and especially Great...
