I had a great meal here with my girlfriend, the food was surprisingly good and the service was excellent.

The surprise and best dish of the evening was the portobello sandwich - very succulent and filled to the brim with delightful umami flavours. Just yum! We wouldn't have known it wasn't meat if they didn't tell us. Another favourite dish was their langoustine. Mine was slightly overdone on the thin tail part, but the rest was exquisite. My girlfriend did not face the same problem as her langoustine was perfectly prepared all the way through.

Their nigiri was good, even if the rice ought to have been more room temperature. The rice lacked a bit of sweet acidity as well, but they weighed up for it with real wasabi, although not Omakase level, the wasabi was still fabulous!

The halibut sashimi was tasty, but the lean tuna was mediocre.

Apostrophe being part of Lofthus Samvirkelag, we of course got served a nice slice of pizza. Unfortunately it was not as good as the pizzas I'm used to from Lofthus, but still better than most other pizza places here in Oslo.

The lamb was a tad overdone for my taste and some of the dishes were a bit salty. Other than that Apostrophe delivered high class.

That said, the biggest disappointment of the evening may be the wine pairings; none of the wines were very nice on their own, and they didn't add anything to the dishes. Even the dessert wine pairing, which usually is pretty easy to pair, was not the best match.

All in all a pleasurable...

A heavenly taste experience at Apostrophe

From the moment we stepped into the doors of Apostrophe, we knew we were in for an outstanding evening. The interior oozes elegance and comfort, making it the perfect setting for our culinary adventure.

The wine pairings took the evening to new heights. Each course was accompanied by a carefully selected wine that enhanced the flavours in a way that can be described as nothing short of magical. The waiter's extraordinary knowledge and passion for his trade shone through in every glass served.

Our waiter further enhanced the wonderful experience. His enthusiasm and genuine interest in our experience made us feel like the only guests in the restaurant. He explained each dish so passionately that we could feel the history and work behind each ingredient. His recommendations were spot-on, and he was able to pick up on our tastes and preferences from our first interactions.

Of course, the food was also outstanding. Each dish was a masterpiece of balance and finesse, with local ingredients starring in a symphony of flavours that danced on the tongue.

All in all, our visit to Apostroph was an experience that will be long remembered. It was an evening where every detail was thought through, from the atmosphere to the extraordinary service, divine food, and wine pairings. For those seeking a culinary experience in a class of its own, look no further than Apostroph. This place is a feast for the taste buds and a tribute to the best...

We finally visited this lovely place which is very close to our home. They have a nice selection of pizza and drinks. We preferred trøffelsalami from white pizzas and 'nduja from red pizzas. I absolutely loved them both! 'nduja had a mixture of swine, pancetta and chili; while trøffelsalami had trøffelsalami & mushrooms in it. Mine ('nduja) had a nice chili flavour that I enjoyed much. But if you cannot even bare a little spicy, go for another one:-) We also tried several cocktails. Mowgli from the Jungle Book, H2G and a chili margarita. Mowgli had dark rom, coconut, lime, brown sugar, tiki bitters and kaffirlime leaf in it; which I loved! H2G had was a simple one with not many distinct flavours. Chili margarita was quite nice with a tint of chili slightly burning your palate. The staff is helpful and nice. All in all, I definitely recommend this place...

From the a la carte bistro menu, we had a Caprese salad, bread and the daily main, Halibut, accompanied by a Burklin-Wolf Riesling. All dishes were excellent. The bread came with brown butter that was superb, felt like a desert. The halibut was near perfect, really outstanding. Just a touch too salty overall, but every element was so tasty and combined perfectly. Potatoes and mushrooms (Oyster?) stood out, but the smoky sauce and pan fried Halibut were also excellent. The Riesling was a perfect match, as recommended by the friendly and attentive staff.

What a great place! Located on Rathke's Square (named after the first professor of natural history at the university - Jens Rathke). Just wandering around the area is worth a visit to Apostrophe. Sit outdoor in the sun, or inside in very pleasant premises. One of the best pizzas I've tasted in Oslo. Very good crust and very good topping. What a delicious combination! Fast serving, very nice staff and good music. Offers a variety of beverages. Can't wait for next time 🤩
