I was looking for a place to celebrate my partner’s birthday and the decor of Klosteret really appealed. It lived up to expectations, it was very cosy and relaxing. I like that they have real candles at the table and not the electric candles that are so common these days.

We had the six course main menu with wine pairing.

The wine pairing was notable for me, the expertise of the sommelier was undeniable and he picked out wines that truly complemented each dish. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and dedicated to his craft. I thought the Riesling served with the second course was a pleasant surprise.

Coming to the food, two dishes stood out as Michelin grade to me - the starter soup with pickled mushrooms and langoustine oil, and the halibut with smoked aubergine. All the other dishes, like the tuna ceviche and the lamb with cabbage were excellent, but the those two deserve extra praise I think.

When you go to a restaurant like this, you’re paying for an experience and we got one. But it wouldn’t have been the same without the wine pairing. It pushes up the bill of course but this is not a restaurant for...

Denied a wine list. Sad dining.

This place is very early 2000s in it’s strange own concept way. A cosy atmosphere as far as cellars go. Food is mediocre at best. But that’s far from the strangest thing in this monastery themed eatery.

Our waitress had a very hard time making us feel welcome and I don’t really think she had any experience from the service industry. Extremely hard to understand what she was saying, both as we ordered, and as she was presenting the underwhelming dishes.

When we asked for a wine list, she told us “that’s not how we do it here”. We had to do the wine pairing.. which by the way was awful. I know what wine I’d like to drink. I can read. I’m an adult. Please let me order my wine…I definitely do not need someone without knowledge of wine to deny me a wine list.

Did the tasting menu and (sadly) the wine pairing as a result. Not worth a visit. I’ll definitely not be back....

Unfortunately we had a pretty frustrating experience at this restaurant. My girlfriend was nice enough to invite me for my 30th birthday, we both ordered the more expensive option of the Christmas menu as well as the wine pairings. Not only did they forget to serve us the wine with some of the courses we realized once we got our main that they have been serving us the wrong menu the whole time. Once they realized their mistake it took 40 min before we got served the right main, only for them to serve us the wrong dessert again in the end. They offered is an extra glass of wine and charged us for the cheaper menu instead of the more expensive one but given the wait, the frustration and the mistakes even though there are 2 menu options it felt like too little. Mistakes can happen but at this price point the experience was not acceptable and we would not come back. It is a shame because the food...

If you’re booking this restaurant for first dating. It is not a bad idea. The atmosphere was mysterious, your dating might trigger the interest in you. The light was really dark, your face would be flawless (since everything is difficult to see clearly). The food wasn’t tasty, so you won’t eat too fast and break your impression to others. We won’t visit this restaurant again, because we really care about food. Their red fish tasted exactly like my company’s employee lunch. The only difference is company one costs 50 nok. This one costs 555 nok ( with raw fish salad and blueberry tart). * I don’t have any comments to raw fishes since I don’t eat raw food in general. But blueberry tart is the only food standing out of average. Still not match their price tho.
