I was quite surprised by the level of unprofessionalism and low quality food at Frida during our last visit. The occassion was very important, which made it even more of a let down. Bottom line: I will never go back nor will I ever recommend to any of my colleagues/friends to have any big event there.
The long story: I planned my doctoral defense dinner there with 26 guests through a series of several emails and one personal visit. I should've taken the super slow communication as the first sign that things wouldn't go well. I had to request the menu several times before I finally got an answer. This was even after I warned "I will be very busy in the lead-up to my defense so I would be very happy to get this sorted out ahead of time." Still, because of the slow communication, I found myself having to spend time on organizing the dinner during a very inconvenient time. In addition, I requested the side-room (that is more private, quiet and intimate) no less than 3 times, in which I got several confirmations. When we got there, the waitress had no clue and said that it wouldn't be possible for us to sit in the side room . After arguing with her, she finally gave in but we had to arrange the room ourselves. So I had to get my_guests to carry tables and chairs and set them. Of course, the waitresses made it seem like we were inconveniencing THEM during this process.
Then came the horrible waits. Out of 26 guests, I had roughly 10 of them complain about waiting over 40 minutes to get a drink. The worst part is when they finally received their beer, IT WAS EXPIRED. This leads me to the seriously horrible food. We ordered the molcajetes and what we got was big bowls of cold meat that was extremely sweet, over-cooked and (frankly) inedible. I had three guests that had to leave early because it made them feel so bad that they needed to go home (probably a mixture of the expired beer and bad food). As if the horrible service, expired beer and bad food wasn't enough, when we requested that the music get turned down so that we could hear the speeches, nothing was done. It made it virtually impossible to hear anything.
If you are thinking about eating here or arranging any event, think again. We had been to Frida before and were quite happy with the food/service but we saw tables next to us leave because they weren't being served. Apparently this is an ongoing issue with the establishment. Honestly, I am extremely disappointed and pretty angry that they screwed up a very very important night for me. Thanks for...
Read moreThey immediately gave water and accepted visa, mastercard, amex. Meat tasted good, both chicken and beef. This is positive. It was my second time in Mexican restaurant so i cannot comment on avocado with nearly green plastic flavourless tomato. It was surprising but who knows maybe it is right. Broken serving plate. One has a choice to get a regular fixed plate or an authentic old one which got broken but still can be used for some time. We had a reservation and came early; from multiple available tables for two we were given one in the middle. I sometimes prefer near window or near the wall, but it was not an option. A person came to ask whether the food is good but left before I opened a question on the plastic tomato, so I'm not sure until now whether it was authentic enough. 3 course meal with soft drink ranges 500 to 600 nok. Waiters were running fast, even though the place was not full. I feel food is 7/10,...
Read moreThis place isn't what it used to be anymore. I ordered Enchiladas Poblanas, it came with 3 small pieces of mushroom spread out over three small tortillas - and this is supposed to be the vegan option. The waitress looked at me like i was speaking klingon when i asked if they had forgotten to add mushrooms. Waited forever to get her attention so i could show her the "evidence", she just looked at it and showed no sign of caring. She later came back and wanted to give me a new plate - but my tablemates had almost finished theirs and i wasn't going to make them wait that long for me. They both ordered the Enchiladas con pollo, one spicy and the other one not, the sauce had different colors but neither was spicy. This used to be a great place with bold and exciting flavours - it isn't any more. Wont come back. (+ That their drinks have...
