The pizza here is amazing! Great authentic Italian pizza made fresh in a pizza oven with fair prices. I have only been once so far, but I will definitely be coming back. They have traditional pizza like margherita and parma, white pizzza, and their own pizzas (including a vegan one). In addition they have panini, which is what I will try out next time. You can find their menu in the pictures for the place.
For those of you who cannot eat gluten - I have great news for you! They can make every pizza and panini on the menu gluten-free, at no additional cost! They make their own flour mix, buckwheat mixed with corn flour and more, which they use to make fresh gluten-free pizza. The crust is really nice, and I couldn't be happier with both the taste and feel of the pizza. I think this is the best gluten-free pizza I have ever had.
The place is rather small with very limited seating, bar stools against the two windowed walls with a small counter, and I don't think there is a toilet available for customers. But that is kind of the concept here, it is more geared towards take-away pizza. They can also be found on Wolt if you would like to order the pizza delivered or picked up there.
When I was there the baker made a parma instead of a margherita for my friend by mistake. He gave my friend the choice of having the parma, or he could make two margherita's to make up for it. My friend chose the parma, and even still the baker gave me and both my friends dessert for free! Great service, really friendly casual guy. I had the pannacotta while they had tiramisú. I can highly recommend their desserts to!
If you're in Trondheim and want great Italian pizza, check out Grano, they have definitely made a great first impression on me :)
Some additional info: As far as I could tell there was no plastic there. Cups, cutlery and everything we used was made from material that can be recycled. Their ingredients are produced and imported from Italy, and I believe you can purchase ingredients directly from them as well....
Read moreFurther Note (Addendum to Review):
This response from the restaurant perfectly illustrates why I left a one-star review.
They claim there was no mix-up, yet we waited significantly longer than the two tables seated after us, who received their mains before us—because our order had not been input. We were told this in person, not speculated after the fact.
To top it off, when it came time to pay, we were not even shown a proper itemized bill—just a consolidated amount, which made it impossible to review or remove the service charge, something we’ve never experienced elsewhere in Norway or beyond.
The tone of the owner’s response is smarmy and dismissive, cloaked in customer-service platitudes while essentially denying our experience. Rather than taking the feedback seriously, they’ve opted to explain away everything as if nothing went wrong.
This reinforces that my original one-star rating was entirely justified: they are more interested in appearing correct than in actually listening or improving.
Original Review: The pizza was decent and the starter genuinely very good — no complaints on the food itself. However, the service left a lot to be desired. Our table’s order was mixed up, and while nearby tables received complimentary olives as a gesture, we were given a shrug and told, “It’s a busy restaurant.”
The tone felt condescending, and the atmosphere wasn’t particularly welcoming — we couldn’t help but notice we were the only non-blonde customers in the room. A bit more consistency and courtesy from the staff would...
Read moreI visited GRANO this evening with a friend, looking forward to a good meal and a relaxed evening. Unfortunately, the experience left me quite disappointed.
We ordered pizza, and it took almost 40 minutes to arrive. While I understand the restaurant was busy, the delay could have been better managed or at least communicated to us.
More concerning, however, was the lack of hygiene in the live kitchen. The chef preparing pizzas was not wearing gloves, even while handling cheese and toppings directly with his hands. What made this even more alarming was that he appeared to have a plaster or bandage on his left hand, possibly covering a cut or injury. In such situations, proper food safety protocols should be strictly followed—gloves are a must. This level of carelessness in food handling is unacceptable, especially in a live kitchen setting where guests can clearly see what’s going on.
To make matters worse, after the long wait, only one pizza was delivered to our table—my friend’s. Mine was apparently served to another table by mistake and then brought back and served to me, which is both unprofessional and unhygienic.
While the pizza itself tasted good, the service and hygiene standards were seriously lacking. For a place that charges premium prices, this kind of oversight is unacceptable. Unfortunately, based on today’s experience, I would not recommend GRANO to others. Until they improve their hygiene practices and service quality, it’s simply not worth the visit....
