Trader Vic's at InterContinental Muscat — Restaurant in Muscat

What a terrible restaurant!

First of all, the service was very rushed. They food came out within five minutes of ordering.. which leads me to believe we received overpriced reheated food.

The cocktail was basically a collection of juices.. no alcohol in it anyway!

The kicker was the 5 different charges at the end of the meal.. vat, service, municipality, tourist and a rounding up fee! Gotta laugh at a rounding up fee. We asked why the service and tourist charge as there was nothing outstanding done to warrant a service charge and we were not tourists.

The waiter very rudely said that it is a 5 star hotel.. ha! Where was the 5 star service then? Heated up food, pouring our own water, bathrooms that need a serious update, watery cocktails and also the food was bang average i would make better myself (for a lot less money)

Plus the place was empty should have been a sign so I didnt understand the rushed service. The waiter kept coming over to take my plate but I don't shove the food down my throat I eat slowly. Even went to take my juice cocktail before I finished it.

On top of this he put the wrong amount into the card machine and then told us we shouldn't of told him the wrong amount! Surely in a "5 star hotel" the waiter should be able to put the ridiculously overpriced meal amount into a card machine?

It's also not even in the intercontinental it is outside of it.

We were actually meant to stay in the intercontinental in fujeirah next weekend but we've simply had to cancel after this atrocious experience.

We had dinner here last night. (Note: if you wanna order steak you have to ask carefully because they wont ask they will give what they want not what you want) We are so excited for their ribeye steak. The moment I tasted the first bite, there's something wrong. The steak has a bbq sauce, which we didn't order. The manager tried to blame it on us he said maybe we ordered grilled steak (but we didn't ) and he said also that wherever trader vics you go they will serve you a steak glazed with bbq sauce but the last time we went there they didn't serve this. Completely wrong by the restaurant but they tried to blame it on us. We wanted to change the four steak that costs almost 100 rials, but still we are considerate to them.
