I visited Chai Khana, Centaurus Branch yesterday, and it turned out to be one of the most disappointing and unpleasant dining experiences I’ve ever had.
I ordered a cup of tea along with French toast and an aloo paratha. At first, everything seemed fine; the French toast and paratha were actually quite good. But the moment I went to pour the tea into the cup, I noticed something horrifying: there was a dead bug inside the tea cup, likely a fly. Absolutely disgusting.
What shocked me even more than the unhygienic tea was the casual and dismissive attitude of the server. When I pointed it out, he just shrugged and said, “Oh maybe this is a fly that came from outside.” First of all, I was sitting indoors, and it is entirely their responsibility to maintain cleanliness, both in the kitchen and the dining area. Instead of offering a sincere apology or showing any concern, the server just said, “Okay, I’ll change your tea.” Excuse me? That’s completely unacceptable. The presence of an insect in my tea suggests a clear lapse in hygiene, likely from their kitchen itself.
To make matters worse, the manager didn’t even come over to address the issue. He just stood at the desk and completely ignored what was happening. It was only after I made a scene and expressed how unacceptable this was that they half-heartedly admitted fault and said they’d refund my money. No genuine apology, no accountability, no offer to make things right unless I pushed for it.
After seeing that bug in my tea, I couldn’t eat any more of the food. I felt sick just looking at it, wondering what else might have come from that unsanitary kitchen.
Honestly, I had higher expectations from a place like Chai Khana. But this experience was appalling; unhygienic food, poor service, unprofessional staff, and zero sense of customer care.
I won’t be visiting this place again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who values cleanliness and respect as part of their...
Read more⚠️The food was tasty, BUT not hygienic, not safe, ‼️ especially for foreigners. My son got E-Coli and Noro Virus after esting here and it stayed 5-6 weeks. Means, the kitchen staff do not wash their hands properly after touching raw meat, and sfter going to the toilette. They perhsps are using old frozen stuff as well. There is something about the food, that is not safe. My stomach and digestion is disturbed since 2 weeks. I vomited and blood came out of nose and in mucus from the mouth. We are overseas Pakistanis. Maybe that's why. But even one of my paremts who live in Pakistan got a disturbed stomach and digestive system, Diarrhea. Either the food is old, or too spicy, or just the spices, or the way they process food in the kitchen is not safe... somwthing is causing the healthy issue! At least we had this experience.
They need to build a bathroom/restroom for the customers. It would be great.
Also some space with privacy for feeding Mothers will be great; they also helped us in that regard anyway, and providing us best privacy possible.
Synthia has been really kind and provided good service. So the service was good, food was tasty, but npt safe at all, and actually a health Hazard in my opinion! Givong 2 stars, only for the good service. 0-Stars for the...
Read moreI visited Chaye Khana, situated on the 3rd Floor of Centaurus Mall, F-8/4, with friends for a cup of tea. Opting to sit on their terrace, we were treated to a simply beautiful view of Islamabad and the Margalla hills in the daytime. The tea was flavorful, enjoyed by both of us, and the staff was courteous. If you're shopping in Centaurus Mall, I recommend taking some time to visit this place, despite the relatively higher prices. It was a flawless experience, marked by great coffee served with skimmed milk. The coffee paired with a donut was a reasonable deal. Their chai is also noteworthy; I tried the mixed tea. The indoor sitting area has a somewhat gloomy vibe, while the outdoor section is more open and lively. The place caters well to groups and has tables for 2-4 people. When unsure about what to eat, Chaaye Khana is a safe choice with a diverse menu offering a variety of snacks and dishes. The only downside is the loud music in their restaurants. Overall, a good option with an excellent atmosphere and beautiful views...
