I visited Dumpling Zhang Restaurant recently with the intention of trying crab for the very first time. I’m generally not a seafood fan, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone—and I’m glad I did!
I ordered their crab, dumplings, and noodles, and to be honest, the food exceeded my expectations. The flavors were rich and authentic, and everything was cooked to perfection. Even as a first-timer with crab, I genuinely enjoyed it. The dumplings were juicy and flavorful, and the noodles had that traditional Chinese flair that’s hard to find in local places.
The atmosphere, while not particularly elegant or high-end, was still fine for a casual dining experience. It felt a bit dim and slightly shady at first glance, but once you settle in, it’s comfortable enough to enjoy your meal. The service was prompt and courteous, and the staff seemed to know the menu well.
They offer a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes, so if you’re looking to explore Chinese cuisine—especially in a more traditional sense—I’d highly recommend trying...
Read moreDisappointing experience. Ordered half steamed dumplings, half pan seared dumplings, shrimp kung pao and vegetable rice.
The dumplings were really bad. The beef inside was chewy and undercooked. The dumpling dough itself was sweaty and dry.
The mains were inedible and we had to return them because it caused us stomach issues after only having a few servings.
The staff were not attentive at all and busy in their own mingling while the customers across our table were also struggling in getting their attention.
However, the server that served was quite respectful and didn’t argue (maybe he knows the quality isn’t good)
Anyway, a fun happy eating out turned into a disaster as we had to go somewhere else with a weakened diet and a bad aftertaste.
Will definitely not recommend unless they up their game as there are far better options elsewhere.
Also, we weren’t served any complimentary drinks (which are equally bad rated amongst the reviews here, so thank...
Read moreAs tonight was Chinese New Year, I thought it would be a good idea to celebrate with authentic Chinese food! But unfortunately, I have mixed feelings about this experience at Dumpling Zhang.
The first thing you notice when entering the restaurant is that many customers were smoking inside the room, making it hard to breathe and very unpleasant to experience when you don't smoke cigarettes.
I ordered fried rice with chicken and boiled dumplings with vegetable filling, and both were served in rather good quantities. The taste was good but it was very disappointing that the Dumplings were lukewarm instead of very hot as they are normally served.
The overall experience was disappointing, and the bill at 1200PKR a bit high considering the venue, smoke and...
