District 6 — Restaurant in Zone 1

I just ordered the food today. Normally im not that big on writing reviews but this one deserved a post.

I ordered 3 items, buttermilk fried chicken, beef burger, and a cookie (if you can even call it that!)

And I have to say that the food was just downright bad. The buttermilk chicken had a hard, char-burnt batter that was much larger than the chicken itself, making one deceptively think that the portions were hearty. You could literally shake to hear a piece of chicken moving from side to side as if finding a toy in a packaged box. When i cracked open the batter I was amazed to see that the chicken itself was char burnt (how they managed to do that, I'll never know! ) along with being extremely dry and hard to chew. Plus they had these caramel popcorns with the chicken (a very weird combination in my opinion) with the popcorn itself being very moist/ soggy and the caramel extremely thick and chewey that it took me around 10 mins to get bits of caramel out of my mouth after having only two. You get better caramel popcorns at the cinema !!

The taste of beef burger was alright because of the tomato relish and some other toppings but the patty itself was slightly hard and not nearly as soft or as juicy as the ones you find in other restaurants i.e. Cannoli. The fact that they (District 6) tried to imitate or make their burger appear along the same lines as Cannoli's really didnt help their case.

The cookie was extremely hard, dry and super chewy which made me question whether it was even a cookie in the first place. You need to mess up on a completely different level when you make someone doubt the identity of the food itself despite having the same name on the menu along with the appearance.

All in all the bill came to about Rs 2300/- while the quality of the food was so bad that I wouldve written this review even if the price came to about Rs. 500/-

My rating of this place, being purely based in the quality/ taste of the food since I had it delivered, would be 2/ 10

Okay so here we are with District 6, let me start off with how awesome this place looks from the outside like wow it has a really interesting architectural look with minimalist and glass oriented facade. Entering the place is also minimalist and epic with awesome smooth lines and decor with a very friendly staff and comfortable feel to it given that even the music was at the right volume. Overall as an entrance you are greeted with a great experience however, things start to tumble down when you start noticing the details of the place. There is dampness inside the walls which means there is leakage either from the neighbouring building or from pipes installed maybe on the floor above. Then on the ground floor towards the far end near the doors i saw cockroaches roaming around which means that they are attracted to dampness and have made a home there. I had some tea there and it was pretty average for a price tag of 250 Rs. But the cockroaches and all were of a concern to me thats all really. But if they keep their kitchen clean and all then thats awesome! Overall good folks, decor is nice but needs work with water and damp proofing along with pest control.

Nachos: Honestly one of the best plates of Nachos I’ve had so far in Pakistan. I do however feel that the addition of a nice Guacamole would have made it all the more better. 8/10

Hard Shell Tacos 🌮 I can’t seem to find hardshell tacos anywhere in Pakistan and though they do offer them. They were extremely bland and tasteless. Completely lacking flavours and toppings; moreover, the the beef was really tough and chewing making it a pretty bad experience overall. 4/10 I requested them to season or replace and they said that wasn’t possible :/

Burrito Bowl: another bland and tasteless experience lacking depth of flavour. Just rice, chicken and chopped veggies thrown together in a bowl. 4.5/10

Crème Brûlée: this was nice and light and delicious but not authentic as far the flavours go. 7/10

Overall I just feel that the place is extremely overpriced and overhyped. The food is just okay but the prices are too much compared to what they offered. Customer satisfaction should be the number one priority therefore the option of tweaking or replacing dishes should be available.
