Read moreI haven't dined out since COVID-19 so for me the taste buds were missing out on flavours. Me and my best buddies from uni decided to go to chop chop wok because firstly i needed an outing and secondly the korean food was expected to be good. Lets just say it was a good experience. Started off with some sushi and although, personally, not big on sushi, but the flavor was good and the fish surprisingly tasted fresh given how we live in a land locked region mainly. This was followed by Korean Fried Chicken and Sichuan Dumplings. Choosing these two was mainly because they were up on the spice level and the weather called for it (rain). The dumplings were well made, it was properly prepared and the texture did not feel rubbery and chewy which is how a dumpling is meant to be, the filling was also generous along with the sauce. The mistake for me was to order 2 spicy things as a meal and not balance is out with something mild however, i still dont regret it. Lets now talk about the Korean Fried Chicken. When you hear the word 'fried', the first thing you expect is Crispy. If i were sitting in a cinema and ate a crisp there during a silent moment, people would stare at me, lets multiply that with 10 because it was awesome. Proper crispy, not at all oily and bang on flavor. The sweet and spicy sauce with dinner rolls were awesome with the meat breaking apart easily with each bite.
There was just one hiccup in my experience here and that was finding strand of hair pressed into the rice on sushi. That said, the management without questions asked replaced with a fresh order and thats what i like. Fast remediation of a problem. I will still give it a 5 star and would love to go back and try...
Read moreThe food here is always good, hence my being a repeat customer. The issue, similar to that in many restaurants in Islamabad, is the quality of service.
My last visit was 21-03-2025 and as a party of two, we arrived before 5:30PM, and our order was finally taken around 5:40PM, which we thought was fine seeing as there was plenty of time until we could break our fast anyway. This is where the trouble began.
The speed of service at Chop Chop Wok has never been particularly fast, even when the place is basically empty, but last Friday many parties showed up after us and therefore ordered after us as well, yet we were left without food while all of them were halfway through gorging their meals. We ended up being served after approximately an hour’s wait for two simple starters and an entree.
When we realised every other party had been served and we were just left to stare at our drinks, we tried getting the attention of the staff and the two that finally took notice had no explanation and made no attempts to accommodate. I remained patient and courteous at the time as they must also fasting, but there is no justification for our food arriving after everyone else’s when we were there first and planned it that way to avoid any delays in being served.
The establishment needs to train/re-train staff, from chefs to servers. Nobody’s expecting them to sing and dance for our entertainment alongside their primary duties, but some efficiency and customer care would go a long way in retaining...
