I'm writing a review because I see the owner responds to other reviews and it seems he/she is interested in feedback. Hope this one helps:
So I've moved here from Karachi and my wife was craving some good Haleem. Someone had suggested this place so we went there.
Seating is very good (compared to a lot of other Isloo restaurants) and the view of the Margalla Hills is amazing. The server suggested a spot with good air conditioning which we appreciated.
Ordered 1 chicken biryani and 1 plate beef Haleem with 1 roti just to try out the food. I won't say anything about the biryani because we Karachiites have very...different expectations from it, but it was O.K just very cold and could've been heated in the microwave before serving (seems it just came out of a lukewarm daig).
Now the Haleem was an entirely another matter. I believe they have a paste of haleem daals etc and just garnish chicken/beef as per the order, as you could notice individual chunks of meat in your mouth which clearly hadn't been cooked with the haleem gravy. Also the brown piyaaz tarka was just cold piyaaz with some oil thrown on top (which we removed first thing). That is not how you make a haleem, neither how you do tarka.
Before leaving we ordered 1 cup of tea, which was served a good 15 mins later, it was hard cooked (karhi hui chai) and I requested the server to please put some milk on it. Big mistake as they took the cup and disappeared with it for another 15-20 mins! And after it came back I was informed the cook was I guess in a neighboring food place trying to make another cup! I informed the person that I'd simply requested to put some milk and give it back to me. I guess they need to work on their listening skills. Also, just for the owners information, every single time a different server attended us and I can understand how that might've caused a lot of the confusions. Please work on your staff, they seem to have taken an air of all the employees in the surrounding Government establishments in the area! LOL
But the view...
Read moreHaleem Ghar is a fantastic restaurant that serves some of the best Pakistani cuisine in town. I had the pleasure of trying their special dishes, Haleem Tarka and Chicken Jalfarazi, and I must say, I was blown away by the taste.
Firstly, let's talk about their Haleem Tarka. This dish is a traditional Pakistani dish that is made with slow-cooked meat and lentils. The dish is flavored with a variety of spices, including cumin, coriander, ginger, and garlic. The result is a thick, hearty stew that is full of flavor and texture. Haleem Ghar's version of this dish is exceptional. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the spices were perfectly balanced. It was a true delight to my taste buds.
The second dish I tried was the Chicken Jalfarazi. This dish is a combination of chicken, vegetables, and spices that are cooked together to create a delicious curry. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. The spices were just right, not too spicy but enough to give it a flavorful kick.
The ambiance of Haleem Ghar is cozy and welcoming, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant's cleanliness is also worth mentioning, as the kitchen and dining area are kept spotless.
Overall, I highly recommend Haleem Ghar to anyone looking for a great Pakistani dining experience. Their Haleem Tarka and Chicken Jalfarazi are must-tries, and I am sure you will not be...
Read moreDo not, I repeat, do NOT eat here. I have eaten from here ONCE. And that was a lesson enough for me never to repeat the mistake. I know you guys might be thinking it could've been a coincidence. Well, I happen to have a very strong stomach when it comes to taking risks with food. This place, however, did put my stomach on high alert. And it wasn't just me. I had a few colleagues from my work place who are from there and I know, at least 9/10 of them had severe health issues after their warm dinner. I also had a similar feedback from another friend who is now at a different office and him and his buddies also ended up calling out sick after their "enjoyable" meal. Just keep the warning in mind when you decide to go to Haleem Ghar. The food, when served, is hot. So it masks a lot of issues that may rise once it's in the stomach. Also, not everyone pays attention to their food like I do. People only base their ratings on what happened AFTER they ate at a certain place. I, however, felt the food wasn't right, right from the start - at least 2-3 morsels down the throat. And I raised my concern but my friends thought it was just because I was eating there for the first time. Well, they definitely agreed more after one of them ended up in the hospital later on. If you're paying for your food, make sure it's healthy AND clean, apart from just being...
