Loafology - #TSGBloggerOsamaKhan Have finals gotten you in serious need of some rejuvenation? Do you really, really need donuts to fill in the gaping hole in your CGPA? Have you ever read in books about those warm, cozy bakeries and cafes that provide you shelter from the cold and fill you up with delicious, heartwarming food? If you've been looking for that experience, then look no further as this winter, its available to you at Loafology. There is something special about the feeling you get when you enter a cafe from the freezing cold and are instantly met with the smell of freshly baked bread, the sound of hushed chatter, and an amazing array of baked goods on display at the main counter. Yet, this feeling is not enough to provide you a completely wholesome experience, and for that, you need some really good comforting food. Perhaps my favorite kind of restaurants are the ones that serve breakfast all day. In retrospect, I can't seem to remember if they really served breakfast all day, or if I was actually in time for breakfast for once. I was still in a sleepy haze from the all nighters, and can't really seem to remember. Point is, I had breakfast; and it was good. The first of many dishes I ended up eating this morning (or dopehr???) was Poached eggs with smoked salmon, served on their own bread with some hollandaise sauce and crunchy spinach. I ordered the eggs runny and boy did they run. As soon as you cut into the perfectly cooked egg, partially runny yolk would coat the salmon beneath it, and mix with the hollandaise to form an incredibly rich, delicious supersauce that just elevated the flavor of the salmon. Unfortunately, all this oozey goodness made the bread under it too soggy, making the dish texturally quite monotonous, despite the crunch from the spinach leaves. Regardless, flavor-wise this dish was very fulfilling and packed an incredible amount of umami. With savoury out of the way, it was time for desserts, the first of which being their Ice creams. We ordered chocolate brownie and salted caramel, and while the former was a familiar taste and not anything special, the latter was a brilliant balance of salty and sweet that was good enough to enjoy completely on it's own. But did we do that? Of course not dear readers, of course not. We were alerted that fresh donuts and donut holes were on their way out. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the in, and coated with cinnamon sugar; hot delicious donut holes. The nutella donut we got was good, make no mistake, in fact it was very good. However, it did not hold a candle to the absolute brilliance that was those donut holes. Remember the ice cream from before? Dip a donut hole in it, eat it, and experience what it feels like to have your heart massaged. In summation, Loafology is largely successful in providing an extremely fulfilling dining experience, with both ambience and cuisine.Though I would argue that the circumstances of my visit had a major role to play, which is why I'd recommend that if you go, go in the winter and during lunch (or brunch?) time, and make absolutely sure that you get some fresh, hot donut holes.

My recent visit to Loafology in Blue Area, Islamabad, was unfortunately a major letdown. Despite the seemingly appealing menu and the price point suggesting a higher standard, the food fell drastically short of expectations. In fact, "bland" would be an understatement. The Chicken Kiev was a complete disaster. It lacked any discernible seasoning whatsoever, rendering it utterly tasteless. Furthermore, the chicken breast was nowhere to be found; what I received was a far cry from that. The accompanying vegetables – three measly slithers of potato, along with hard carrots and broccoli – were equally disappointing. For the price charged, the portion size and quality were simply unacceptable. The disappointment continued with the chicken burger. Like the Kiev, it was devoid of any flavor or seasoning, and the bun fell apart upon the first bite. It was a truly unpleasant eating experience. We also ventured to try the ricotta cheese pancakes, which I would strongly advise against. Their texture was strangely off, likely due to the absence of buttermilk in the recipe. They were heavy and unappetizing. Even the hot chocolate, a seemingly simple beverage, was poorly executed. It's telling when a restaurant can't even get the basics right. The only saving grace of the entire meal was the freshly squeezed orange juice, which, thankfully, was refreshing. To add insult to injury, the service was painfully slow. This, combined with the subpar food, made the entire dining experience extremely frustrating. Overall, I cannot recommend Loafology Blue Area. It's overpriced for the quality of food offered, and there are significantly better dining options available elsewhere in Islamabad. Save your money and your taste buds – go somewhere else

Updated Review: Next morning at breakfast, the manager gave me a complimentary hot chocolate with improved taste. It's safe to say, they do work on the feedback provided to them. Their baked goods and breakfast are really good, my last morning in the city was truly memorable because of their staff and the manager. I would highly recommend the breakfast over any place in the city. I didn't quite enjoy their dinner time services, but the breakfast is very good. They have good options, and it's genuinely well prepared. Kudos to their morning chef, honestly. I think I just caught them on a bad night that day. Safe to say, it took them only one night to set their food perfectly. Truly remarkable. I hope to visit again soon, InshaAllah!

Old Review: I have never in my life had to send back hot chocolate. It was actually tasteless and bitter like coffee. Mashed potatoes were decent, but I've had better in ISB. No salt, no seasoning, nothing. Their don't leaf me behind the pie was just one really expensive samosa except it lacked salt and any spice. The only reason I visited was because of it being in the top 10 cafes of ISB and because I was staying nearby but no. This is so NOT on. One staff member was polite enough to respond regarding our bad experience, but calling the waiters on and on was so irritating. No manners, nothing. I just wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is an actual foodie. The only good thing is the ambience and the fact it's a heated place, other than that nope. Also what kind of cafe in the 21st century doesn't have pasta? And half the menu items are unavailable. What's the bloody point. They don't even substitute beef with chicken, so options are even more limited. Islamabad needs to up their game in their food options. I hated this experience, it truly...
