I’ve always voted for the underdog and tried to support the new, upcoming, earnest restaurants that frankly don’t have tons of capital to fall back upon. Mostly, restaurants in Islamabad splurge all the money on fancy interiors while their food is yawn worthy on a good day and appalling on a bad one. So, coming back to the young, enterprising restaurant wallas. Was hearing quite a bit about Jalraiz Kitchen in F10 markaz. You know, corner sabzi walla shop belonging to the Afghani brothers who then also ventured out into a grocery store (opposite Khabbay ki Sajji).

I try never to compare relationships and restaurants; I mean each has its own place in the heart and stomach respectively but you can’t help but compare this place with Kabul Restaurant of F7. Jalraiz are serving one of the best beef tikkas and mantoos in town, easily surpassing Kabuli. The tikkas are served hot and are so very juicy. About four tikkas per seekh along with a fat, janati charbi. Even when getting cold, they didn’t have the chewing gum effect that sets in with other beef tikkas.

The mantoos were quite delicious as well. The sour yogurt on top was just three minutes away from getting properly fermented but went very well with the generous filling inside.

The pullao though is another story all together. Yes, it’s half the price of Kabuli’s but then half the serving (NO MEAT EITHER…Sorry for the Caps Lock but that’s how strongly I feel about beef), half the taste and not accompanied by the usual daal, kofta either. The carrot slices themselves are just so sad and forlorn (and brown instead of bright orangey). The seating upstairs is dodgy at the most and quite depressing but the outside seating is cheerful enough with little coal anghitees being provided and stoked all the time. The pestering and the subsequent guilt trips by this army of relentless beggars (and yes, they were clearly not needy just whiny) is enough to rile your blood and keep you warm.

I’ve attached both restaurants’ bills/price lists so you can make up your mind. I’ll go to F10 for sure for the tikkas and mantoos but overall, I think I’ll stick...

Nestled in the heart of Islamabad, New Kabul Restaurant offers a delightful culinary journey through the flavors of Afghanistan. As an enthusiast of Afghan cuisine, I couldn't resist the temptation to explore this new addition to the vibrant dining scene of the capital city. Here's my review of my recent dining experience at New Kabul Restaurant:

Ambiance: The moment you step into New Kabul Restaurant, you're greeted with an ambiance that effortlessly blends traditional Afghan aesthetics with modern elegance. The décor features intricate Afghan artwork, complemented by warm lighting and comfortable seating arrangements. Whether you're dining with friends, family, or colleagues, the atmosphere exudes a sense of warmth and hospitality.

From hearty kebabs and aromatic rice dishes to flavorful stews and freshly baked bread, there's something to tantalize every palate. Vegetarian options are also plentiful, catering to diners with dietary preferences or restrictions. One notable highlight is the Afghan-style pulao, which bursts with fragrant spices and tender meat, perfectly cooked to perfection.

Food Quality: During my visit, I had the pleasure of sampling several signature dishes, each bursting with authentic Afghan flavors. The Chapli Kebab, renowned for its rich blend of spices and tender texture, exceeded my expectations, leaving me craving for more. The Mantu, delicate dumplings filled with seasoned ground meat and topped with a tangy yogurt sauce and lentil curry, was a true delight for the senses. Every dish was prepared with meticulous attention to detail, using the freshest ingredients to ensure a memorable...

A taste of Kabul in the heart of Islamabad:

Nestled in the bustling F-7 district, Kabul Restaurant F-7 is a hidden gem serving up authentic Afghan flavors that will transport your taste buds straight to the streets of Kabul. From the moment you step inside, the warm aroma of spices and grilled meats envelops you, creating an inviting and immersive dining experience.

A culinary journey through Afghanistan:

The menu at Kabul Restaurant F-7 is a celebration of Afghan cuisine, boasting an array of delectable dishes that cater to every palate. I highly recommend starting with the chapli kebab, succulent minced lamb patties grilled to perfection, and the mantoo dumplings, steamed pockets of goodness filled with a variety of savory fillings. For the main course, the qorma badenjan, a slow-cooked eggplant stew infused with rich spices, is a must-try. And don't forget to end your meal on a sweet note with the qubani ka meetha, a creamy apricot dessert that is simply divine.

Beyond the food:

What truly sets Kabul Restaurant F-7 apart is its atmosphere. The warm hospitality of the staff, the vibrant decor reminiscent of traditional Afghan homes, and the gentle strumming of Afghan music all come together to create an unforgettable dining experience. It's a place where you can relax, unwind, and savor the flavors of Afghanistan in the company of loved ones.

Final verdict:

If you're looking for an authentic and delicious Afghan dining experience in Islamabad, Kabul Restaurant F-7 is the place to be. With its flavorful food, warm atmosphere, and friendly service, it's an absolute gem that deserves all the praise it gets. I highly recommend giving it a try, you won't be...
