Bayern Stuben — Restaurant in Asuncion

What a fun place! This is a little corner of Bavaria transposed into Paraguay. Everything from the decor to the menu, to the "semi communal" sitting arrangement on large benches, even to a small beer garden feels authentically Bavarian. Most night you will hear German spoken by patrons, meaning that even the German expats appreciate the place. The food is very nicely prepared, with hands-down the best Spätzle in Asunción, the portions are generous and the prices fair (especially for the huge sharing platters). The only minor downside is that, like in most restaurants in Paraguay they tend to cook the meat well done or at least medium-well by default, so if you like your meat medium-rare you have to specify it (and likely oder it either rare or very rare). Apart from that, it is a great place where to go and experience South-Germany cuisine and culture (they even serve Radler - a mix of beer and Sprite very popular in Bavaria): the menu is in Spanish, German, and English....

Wow, wow, wow! Five out of 5 for the food. I can't recall what the dish I ordered was called but the it was fantastic. It was some kind of meat with a mushroom cream sauce and pasta. 🤤

Five out of 5 for the beer selection. We had a truly delicious German lager called something like Augustiner and of course a few of our favorite hefeweizens. 🍻✨

And five out of 5 for the ambiance and service. I loved all the thoughtful details and overall cozy feel of this place. The owner was also incredibly kind, even gifting us a beer and letting us stay past close.

Amazing dishes and so many options. The sausages were great but the sauerkraut and spätzle stand out as amazing. By far the best German cuisine nI’ve had ever. If you’re with a friend, I recommend number 19. You won’t be disappointed or hungry afterwards.

Update: The service rating was dropped. The waitresses need training in what their job is to take orders and serve food. We had to actually track down the waitress to place our orders and still it was bad. I hope the owners read reviews and retrain the waitresses on what they job is and to...
