Extremely disappointing experience. They were out of several things for a 9pm dinner seating. What kind of place just runs out of things so early into dinner service? On top of that, after we ordered the wagyu our server came back and told us that they were out of the cut that we ordered but they happened to have a different and more expensive cut of wagyu laying around. We agreed to get it, and as someone who travels extensively (87 countries) and dines at some of the best international restaurants- the cut we received was absolutely not wagyu. It was chewy, tough to cut through, and rough on the jaw. Perhaps people who come here are not accustomed to proper wagyu or haver never lived in Japan and had it regularly. Maybe the restaurant is being scammed and doesn't know what they're getting. In any case, the reviewers who were pleased must have an unrefined palate. Don't expect quality here. The meat was tough, overcooked, and inedible. In addition, they charge a 'cover' which is absurd. 50,000. We are in Paraguay, let's be real. Even places I've dined in the most expensive cities don't do that. And finally the worst of all, we were charged for a bottle of champagne that we did NOT order. I don't even drink alcohol.
After I returned to me hotel, we realized we left our leftovers behind (an entire steak) in addition to realizing the 180,000 champagne charge that we did not order. We explained the charge and they said that we had to come back for a refund, even though it was their fault. I said that I was only going to return if my leftovers were still there, and it was confirmed that they were. Otherwise, it would not have made sense to return because of the cost of the 25 minute Bolt there and back. Upon returning, I was informed that my leftovers in fact were not there and offered various items to replace it. While I do appreciate the effort, I was very upset because the only reason I returned was because I was told the leftovers were there.
I think the manager did her best to help resolve the issues, but I have to be honest that this was so upsetting. I was left crying after the whole ordeal. After spending over a day on planes with no sleep, my sister and I were looking forward to enjoying a nice meal. Instead, what we got was bad food, bad service, and...
Read moreWhat is probably the most celebrated restaurant of Asunción actually lives up to the hype and even surpasses expectations. The ambience is elegant, yet not formal, and the service attentive, kind and professional. But the real star of the show is of course the food, both of really high quality and prepared to perfection, always respecting the doneness level of the meat you request. The experience is elevated by the fact that, along with any main course, you are presented with 9 cold and 4 hot small side dishes, all full of flavors and a great byte-sized introduction to Paraguayan flavors, mixed with more international classics. Along their steaks, which every first-time visitor should enjoy, they also offer a variety of lesser known cuts and interiors, as well as chicken and some fish. The restaurant is locally expensive, but still an incredible bargain compared to anything in Europe, North America or Australia. Highly...
