Casona Ofelia — Restaurant in Lima Metropolitan Area

This house is beautiful and as a tourist is a place you should stop by just to appreciate the architecture and maybe the coffee. However, the service was severely disappointing. The servers acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us eat there. I admit it’s a beautiful place but as a Peruvian American one of things I love most when I visit Peru is the warm and inviting hospitality. This place instead made me feel like I was in LA dining with a bunch of influencers. I was with family too, all Peruvians so we were conversing with the staff and each other in Spanish. Ofelia is the sort of cafe that you need to add to your Lima Itinerary for when you visit because you don’t want to miss this gem!

It’s a stunning cafe that incorporates a historic house alongside modern art. They host many events which helps grow the art community here in Lima such as Pintura & Postres.

If you book one of the rooms you can have the feeling that it is a bit more private and yet still public. Because there are so many interesting designs throughout the cafe and different styles in each room, you can feel like it’s a different cafe and new experience each time you visit.

The owners are very kind and friendly as well. It’s exciting that this cafe has brought even more art into Barranco.

Desde mi última visita hace unas semanas no he vuelto ya que el trato la última vez me dejó un sin sabor.

Había ya ido en diferentes ocasiones y si bien es cierto, el servicio era lento, el personal fue siempre amable.

Hace unas semanas los visité dos veces la misma semana. La última vez fue solo para tomar un café acompañando a una amiga que tome un café y un postre. La atención fue standard como siempre (es decir lenta) y demora en traer el pedido a pesar que no estaba lleno y la persona fue amable.

El problema se dio al momento del pago. Mi café costó menos de 10 soles (7 u 8 tal vez) y yo tenia un billete de 20 soles. Me preguntaron por otro medio de pago el cual no tenía en ese momento, había salido de casa solo por un café con mis llaves, los 20 soles y mi celular. El trato cambió como si yo no quisiera pagar o como si intentara pagar 2 soles con un billete de 200.

Espere 20 minutos para poder recibir mi vuelto. Entiendo que hay la tendencia a el ‘cashless’ pero sean consecuentes, como al final de la noche no van a tener 12 soles para dar de vuelto! No existe ya caja chica? No prevén, no hay un encargado de turno que pueda solucionar?

Todo el personal en turno se conglomeró a cuchichear y a mirarme como si realmente estuviera o robando o haciendo un escándalo.
