Cala Restaurante & Lounge is an absolute culinary treasure that I had the pleasure of discovering. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the elegant ambiance and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Let's start with the food - every dish at Cala is a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with the freshest ingredients and bursting with flavor. From the exquisite seafood dishes to the mouthwatering steaks, each plate is a culinary delight that leaves you craving more. The menu offers a perfect balance of innovative creations and beloved classics, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate. But what truly sets Cala apart is the impeccable service. From the moment you're greeted at the door to the attentive care provided throughout the meal, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Their knowledge of the menu and wine pairings is impressive, and their warm hospitality makes you feel like a valued guest from start to finish. The ambiance at Cala is equally impressive, with stylish decor and cozy seating areas that create the perfect setting for an intimate dinner or lively gathering with friends. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a night out, Cala provides the ideal backdrop for any event. In summary, Cala Restaurante & Lounge is a culinary gem that should not be missed. With its exceptional food, impeccable service, and inviting ambiance, it's no wonder why it's one of the top dining destinations in the city. If you're looking for an extraordinary dining experience that delights the senses and leaves a lasting impression, look no further than Cala.

We came here because it was on a list for best cocktail bars in Lima -- don't be fooled. The cocktails are horrendous. The coffee one was undrinkable. The Maguey with tequila and mezcal made me sad for the wasted flavors because whatever combination that was it tasted like juice from a supermarket and gave my dining companion and I both stomach aches. We couldn't drink the rest of the night. The food was good. The gnocchi is fried which I wasn't a fan of (prefer healthier boiled) but as a meal it was good and flavorful. The atmosphere was pretentious and new money vibes. The first floor was turning into a club when we arrived at 9pm and the second floor was a nice quiet dinner room. The wait staff was kind but it was often hard to find our waiter. They are sneaky because they put one bread basket on our table then charged us each 12 soles ($3) for it totaling $9. Lol. 1) they didn't even ask if we wanted it so it looks complimentary like a classy restaurant. And 2) how does a place charge per person for a single item when they don't know if each person had some bread? It's the same amount of bread! Finally, the water situation -- you'll note in my attached receipt that 3 tiny Evian waters cost more than a cocktail and more than a main dish. At 22 soles ($6) each for a gulp of water, that is ridiculous even for a fancy spot.

Preface: just returned from a two week medical mission in the Amazon. Several recommendations from colleagues speaking to how great this place would be. I made a reservation for myself and 4 local family members who always greet and take care of me when traveling. On arrival to our 1pm reservations, the hostess led us to believe that upstairs was closed. Being my first visit, I thought nothing of it. We were taken care of by Nicholas on the first floor who did an amazing job. Later when I asked to view the upstairs I was told that I could. You can believe my surprise when I saw people eating there. We mentioned our issues to our server and the hostess was called over. She was selling us a story about how the upstairs was a more formal experience, which was why we were not seated. I expressed that this was our first time attending and that did not seem to make a difference. Luckily, Orestes came to our aid and was somehow able to get us seating on the terrace with an amazing view. This was a complete game changer and the only reasons I can give 3 stars are because of Nicholas and Orestes. We went from being on the first floor with limited ocean view to being on the terrace with an amazingly view.

The place is divided into two - a bar and a restaurant (if you want to switch - two reservations are necessary). Bar: Not a big fan of bars - nevertheless - the Pisco and Chilcano are not impressive neither is the music. Restaurant: Depending on your level of snobbery you'll either be delighted of just be aware you are getting nothing spectacular. I tried Cuy - comparing it to the Cuy I ate in a random, dirty, low level restaurant in Ollantaytambo it was like eating a McDonlads instead of Black Angus Stake (the Cuy in Ollantaytambo is the good one if it doesn't become clear). The view: This place is all about the view - it's amazing. Want a romantic date by the Pacific - you found the right place (you can even continue drinking after dinner in the bar which might improve your situation :D).

What an amazing experience! Angela at reservations is absolutely amazing, caring, loving, and totally understanding. I am a Solo traveler and had no idea about Cala, I walked over and was blown away! Angela made sure I was comfortable and felt safe. Angela is such a wonder person and great customer service! Then my waiter Piero, so knowledgeable and knew exactly what I wanted. I described some dishes from the US and Piero went above and beyond to make it worth my wild. I mentioned I was here on my Birthday trip and what an amazing surprise Piero came to the table with dessert and my name on the plate. I did not want to leave! Such a fabulous afternoon with Angela and Piero! Perfect customer service!!! Thank you all so much! I will tell everyone I know about this magical restaurant!
