I had high expectations for this restaurant but ended up extremely dissapointed with the service. For the price, our party was treated poorly and with total rudeness. It was 5 of us: aunt, mom, mom's boyfriend, my daughter and I. It was my mom's boyfriend first time in Lima, he is from Ecuardor. I don't really remember what plate he ordered but he asked our server what the plate consisted of and the server replied "what do you think?" in a super rude and sarcastic way! My aunt stepped in and said he is not Peruvian, he is from Ecuador. Then he explained what the plate was made of in a very rude way like he hated his job. Then I had my two year old daughter with a backpack leash (we were visiting from Los Angeles and I felt safer having her in Lima with that to be honest) and our server says "why do you have her like that?" Like telling me how to parent my own child! I just ignored him because he was seriously the worse server ever, and needed to mind his own business, maybe I should tell him how to do his job better! Make sure to check your bill before paying because that bread and butter they serve before the food is charged without any notice. The server brought that without asking if we wanted any so we assumed it was courtesy bread but nooooo! When my mom checked the bill it was like 35 soles! Like $10 for that bread! It is not honestly about the money, it is about the principle and the way they conduct business, not only that but we were already fed up with the way our server was treating us! So my mom complained and at first the server told her everybody pays that, we didn't even want the bread and we wouldn't have ate it if we knew we were gonna get charged! My mom asked for the manager and they kindly offered to reverse the transaction and charge our card without the bread! Anyways, I will probably never go back to this restaurant! I get treated better at Olive Garden here in Los Angeles than at this "high class" restaurant. Wish Peru had Yelp so I can leave a Yelp review...

Cala Restaurante & Lounge is an absolute culinary treasure that I had the pleasure of discovering. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the elegant ambiance and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.

Let's start with the food - every dish at Cala is a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with the freshest ingredients and bursting with flavor. From the exquisite seafood dishes to the mouthwatering steaks, each plate is a culinary delight that leaves you craving more. The menu offers a perfect balance of innovative creations and beloved classics, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate.

But what truly sets Cala apart is the impeccable service. From the moment you're greeted at the door to the attentive care provided throughout the meal, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Their knowledge of the menu and wine pairings is impressive, and their warm hospitality makes you feel like a valued guest from start to finish.

The ambiance at Cala is equally impressive, with stylish decor and cozy seating areas that create the perfect setting for an intimate dinner or lively gathering with friends. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a night out, Cala provides the ideal backdrop for any event.

In summary, Cala Restaurante & Lounge is a culinary gem that should not be missed. With its exceptional food, impeccable service, and inviting ambiance, it's no wonder why it's one of the top dining destinations in the city. The Dinner That Shut Karen Down (Except for the Espresso Martini)

Picture this: my boyfriend and I waltz into this coastal gem of a restaurant, ready to live our best oceanfront lives. Now, I’d seen a particular review from someone I’ll call Karen (because, well, it fits). Karen said this place was “new money trash.” Trash?! Really, Karen? Who hurt you? I bet she wears sunglasses indoors and argues with customer service reps for fun.

Anyway, we ignored Karen’s warning, and thank goodness we did. From the moment we walked in, it was a vibe. The DJ was on point, spinning beats so smooth they could have been buttered. Drinks were flowing, and while most were chef’s kiss, the espresso martini… well, let’s just say it tried its best, but it felt like it needed a nap.

The ceviche, though? Life-changing. Like, where have you been all my life kind of good. And the Angus beef steak? Let’s just say my boyfriend had to remind me to chew because I was in some kind of food nirvana.

The cherry on top? The view. Waves crashing, the sun setting in a way that screamed, “This moment deserves a postcard.” Meanwhile, I imagined Karen sitting somewhere, scrolling Yelp, still bitter about life.

Final thoughts: Karen needs a hug and better taste. The ceviche was divine, and the espresso martini… well, nobody’s perfect. Would I come back? Absolutely. Would I bring Karen?...

We came here because it was on a list for best cocktail bars in Lima -- don't be fooled. The cocktails are horrendous. The coffee one was undrinkable. The Maguey with tequila and mezcal made me sad for the wasted flavors because whatever combination that was it tasted like juice from a supermarket and gave my dining companion and I both stomach aches. We couldn't drink the rest of the night. The food was good. The gnocchi is fried which I wasn't a fan of (prefer healthier boiled) but as a meal it was good and flavorful. The atmosphere was pretentious and new money vibes. The first floor was turning into a club when we arrived at 9pm and the second floor was a nice quiet dinner room. The wait staff was kind but it was often hard to find our waiter. They are sneaky because they put one bread basket on our table then charged us each 12 soles ($3) for it totaling $9. Lol. 1) they didn't even ask if we wanted it so it looks complimentary like a classy restaurant. And 2) how does a place charge per person for a single item when they don't know if each person had some bread? It's the same amount of bread! Finally, the water situation -- you'll note in my attached receipt that 3 tiny Evian waters cost more than a cocktail and more than a main dish. At 22 soles ($6) each for a gulp of water, that is ridiculous even for a fancy spot.
