Café Olé — Restaurant in Trujillo

Very bad service. We went with a group. We were the only ones in the restaurant. We waited 15 minutes for someone to come and bring us a menu. After we ordered, I waited another one hour and a half and they didn't bring me my dinner. During that time, the restaurant filled up and all the locals were served. A man came, surprised that I wanted my order served, said that the fish I ordered was out of stock and suggested that I choose something else from the menu.

My friends had already finished dinner and I had to leave hungry and in a bad mood. A terrible experience, considering that this was my only day in the city. We decided to go out for dinner and I ended up hungry and extremely disappointed.

Highlight of my time in Trujillo. Happened to stumble upon this place, the decor is super cool, food and drinks are top notch. What really made it great though was the brothers that run it (and their mom). We talked for awhile and it felt like I was at home with family. They’re extremely kind, welcoming, and interesting, and play music too. Only regret is it was my last night in Trujillo but I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Peru. An elegant place with stylish decor. Friendly owners. Cheap and tasty (very) menu del día. They have open mic and people sing and play the guitar there (I think every day).

They also can help you organise tours around Trujillo.

We randomly entered this place and ended up spending the whole day with them. We ate breakfast, took a tour to Chan Chan with them, and ended with lunch with live music.
