18th Street Pala-Pala is a fantastic introduction to Bacolod's vibrant seafood scene. Unlike traditional palapala, where you buy ingredients separately, this place streamlines the experience with its own "mini-market." You simply choose your fresh seafood, tell them how you want it cooked (from classic sutukil to sisig or gambas!), and they handle the rest. This setup is perfect for first-timers who might find the traditional process a bit overwhelming.
The seafood selection is impressive, with a 200-gram minimum (perfect for two) making it easy to sample a variety. We opted for fish, squid, and shrimp, all incredibly fresh. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, blending traditional and modern elements. There's air-conditioned indoor seating and a more casual al fresco area, catering to different preferences.
But what truly sets 18th Street Pala-Pala apart is the service. Attentive and accommodating waiters cater to your every need, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Our fish tinola, squid calamares, and shrimp gambas were all expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. 18th Street Pala-Pala delivers on all fronts: ambiance, service, and delicious food. It's a must-try for any seafood lover...
Read moreFood was awesome! The place is quite pricey, but it was worth it.
The sweet and chili crab was great. It had the right mix of savory, sweetness, and with just about the right kick.
The Calamares is a classic one, you just can’t go wrong with it. It comes with the usal mayo dip.
The butter shrimp is another classic. It’s really good.
Baked scallops is also good. Pricier than in other places in Bacolod but just as good.
We also had a nice fish sinigang. The sour and umami taste goes well with rice.
We also had grilled pork and barbecue which were surprisingly good and perfectly goes with atchara (pickled papayas).
All of these go well with garlir rice or plain rice. This place packs in the flavor for a not so hefty price.
Also, they have al fresco and indoor dining options. Worth your time, money, and...
Read moreAwesome place. We ordered garlic buttered shrimp, fish sinigang and calamares. The shrimp is good, the sinigang is good but the calamares does not have a crispy coat and the mayo dip is not that good. We paid 700+ for all of that. I think that the food is worth it but the drinks are over priced a bit. I am just so happy that they have accommodating waiters and a spacious building. I have been to other pala-pala and you feel that the management is just pushing everything in so customers could fit. They don't have it here. They also have a wide parking area. The place is ideal for family gatherings but it also offers a sweet and nostalgic ambience. I like it that the seafood are displayed in trays with glass protection. A place to recommend for first...
