Capitol Park and Lagoon – Bacolod’s Breathing Space in the City Center Capitol Park and Lagoon is more than just a public park—it’s Bacolod’s open-air living room. Nestled in the heart of the city, right in front of the Provincial Capitol Building, this green oasis offers a refreshing pause from the urban buzz. Whether you’re here for a morning jog, a quiet stroll, or a spontaneous meet-up with friends, the park welcomes you with open arms and wide skies.

The centerpiece is the tranquil lagoon, home to playful fish and ducks, flanked by iconic carabao statues that have become symbols of Negrense pride. Locals and tourists alike gather here to feed the fish, sip iced coffee from nearby kiosks, or simply sit and people-watch under the shade of towering trees. It’s a place where time slows down, and conversations stretch longer.

The park also hosts community events, cultural performances, and seasonal displays—like the giant Christmas tree that lights up the lagoon during the holidays. Despite being centrally located, it maintains a sense of calm and spaciousness, making it ideal for both quick breaks and lingering afternoons.

Capitol Park and Lagoon isn’t just a destination—it’s a rhythm in Bacolod’s everyday life. A space for bonding,...

As you wander through the park, the imposing Capitol Building stands tall in the background, adding a touch of grandeur to the landscape.

However, the true star of the show is the park's picturesque lagoon. Flanked by the iconic carabao statues, a symbol of Bacolod's rich agricultural heritage, the lagoon adds a charm unique to this park alone. Its clean waters teem with playful fish and ducks, offering a delightful spectacle for visitors. It's no wonder that feeding these friendly creatures has become a beloved pastime for locals.

Conveniently located in the heart of the city, the Capitol Park and Lagoon beckons travelers to experience its beauty. The combination of abundant greenery, the iconic lagoon, and the majestic Capitol Building makes it a sight that should not be missed. Great place for a walk I was in town for business staying at the Seda next door and made a point of going for a walk around the lagoon daily. I was also talking with some locals who jog there nightly While the park is popular, it was never crowded. Besides the lagoon and statues, there is a great playground for children I appreciated the fact that there were plenty of benches throughout the park to sit and enjoy the scenery. It is certainly one of the nicest city parks I have visited in the Philippines. It is immaculate as well
